Roverunion (Gavin Asherson and Kenny James)

Best to just Walk the other way! Gauge Auto Sports Costa Mesa, CA

Copy of a resent vehicle for sale ad for a 1995 RRC.....see if the photos agree!

"For sale is this beautiful 1995 Custom Retro Range Rover Classic County LWB. This Rover is A True Enthusiasts Dream in like new condition inside and out with minimal wear and has no warning lights on in the instrument cluster for all systems are functioning as they should. This is a fully restored Custom Rover with 141K miles and the motor was just rebuilt 5k miles ago. There is No Rust Anywhere On or in the vehicle. The paint has a mirror like glossy wet looking shine and the leather is baby soft and it is a Non-Smoker vehicle. Mileage is currently 141K and runs, drives and looks showroom new. The Rover has glossy Eastnor Green Paint with Black Leather which looks and feels great and a full black headliner that was just redone. The rear seat is an original Ash Black with Grey Piping from a 25th Anniversary LWB Rover and the front seats are high Back Racing style seats which not only look great but comfortable and hug you while you are seated ( I also have the cover that goes under the drivers seat it was out when I took the photos). Walnut Wood trim still looks great with minimal cracks and fading. All trim on this vehicle from the inside out and under the hood are in excellent condition and has a new set of euro indicator lamps. This rover is loaded and has never had anything aftermarket installed i.e. alarm, audio system or body). Factory installed options are as follows: pop out cup holder tray in dash, 6-disk CD Changer, auto dim rear view mirror, Moon-roof, Harman Kardon sound system with factory bass box in the rear and really packs a punch, rear child safety locks, matching set of BF GOODRICH All Terrain 245/75/R16 with lots of tread and Black Cyclone 5 star rims with Black steel Lugs and County center caps, rotors still have lots life left and pads were just replaced, Old Man EMU 2” lift springs with new Terra Firma Shocks, Bosch fog lamps (no pitting/cracks or discoloration), IPF Bi-Xenon Headlights, new wiper blades front/rear, Ice Cold A/C and Blistering Heat W/Dual Climate Control, Dual exhaust tips, Custom fabricated Retro Bumpers with fresh powder coat in satin Black, Retro Badges on tailgate and on the cowl and original 1970’s 3 piece Grill which was coated in the same satin black powder coating as the bumpers. The4.2 liter V8 runs smooth and has lots of power. The Motor was completely rebuilt with new Camshaft, Lifters, Push rods, Steel Sprocket timing chain, STI spark plug Wires, Lucas distributor cap and rotor arm, Air filter and more… Transmission shifts smooth and can be shifted from Hi to Lo gears easily. The brakes have great stopping power as well. the dealer just replaced the gas tank, lines, hoses and fuel pumpI would have to say that on a scale of 1-10 this Rover would easily get a 9.5 on the overall. All options on this Rover work like they should: all four windows, moon-roof, door locks, rear hatch, heater, A/C, front/rear defrosters, power heated mirrors, front/rear wipers/washers, ABS System, power steering, Audio System, cooling system, and more... This Rover has been a California car most of its life and has been extremely well taken care of and has none of the typical rust issues found on most east coast Rovers. "

Wait didn't the seller state in the ad:

*No Rust Anywhere
*No warning lights on the cluster (check the tach the vehicle is running)
*wood trim in good condition

And for some reason he couldn't remember:

*Crack in the windshield
*dents on the roof
*no cassette for the cd player
*cut wires
*intermittent a/c
*dome light issues that kill the battery
*all major components leak---yes I know it is a rover....
*loose main fuse holder
*Maaco paint job---actually this might be an insult to even their standards.

Wait did they pull some of the dash lights? Oh man. What is their definition of "fully restored" as they seem to be throwing that term around quite a bit.

Pulled, cut...lots of tracing going on trying to get things to work. Also appears the ignition switch itself is on the way out so not helping things. Same type of work was used to remove the airbag system...pull and cut not very skilled. Didn't even get all the air lines removed.

Only if you want to forfeit 1/3 of the cost of the vehicle and this is not a guaranteed refund it could end up costing you 1/2 the vehicle cost depending on how the wind blows. Good Ebay feedback....but most is based on handbag sales. Ebay is no help as they look after #1.

I was thinking more like Lemon Laws like we have out East here. Perhaps they don't apply to vehicles purchased out of state though.

Aren't lemon laws applicable to new vehicles only?

does he have a dealers license??? [i honestly forget]
if he does there is a form on the CA dmv website to report the problem / issues of "the dealership". its a good tool.

Not in wonderful Mass...I've bought 2 used vehicles there and the state makes the seller pay for repairs within a certain number of days if it's a certain number of years old

Avoid Gavin at all costs

I wish this forum was up when I got involved with Gavin. He's a degenerate and a thief. He'll trick you into working with him (he does have a vast knowledge of Rovers) but will ultimately steal your money, or not deliver what he has promised (or both). All of his associates are equally unreliable.
