Although I suspect they didnt copy the badger per se, since the RN top was always a higher-quality version of the bestop manufactured by badger. My understanding was that it never used the gutter kit but rather used the original bestop hardware.
They Copied it, there is no question about that part. Badger does make non gutter kit tops, and the top is a bit different then the old Tickfords and Best tops.

Mike, what happened to the tread you created on telling the differance between the real Badgers and the RN knock offs? Did you delete it?

Yes, it was the time Steve Y's thread was going on. You created a thread on specifically telling the differance between the two, since people were not aware what they thought they were paying for, was not what they were getting. I thought it was the split out from Steve's thread.

I think it started as a Scorpion Racing thing- about them ripping off the little guy and taking a design, then I mentioned RN did that to Badger, then a moderator started a new thread with my post making it look as if I started an anti-RN thread.

Ohhh this thread!

http://www.defendersource.com/forum/...ead.php?t=7877

I didn't start it! I just split it from the other thread like Steve said. And I think all that was mentioned about telling the deference was that the Badger ones Had a Badger label on them. But I think that Rovers North has been selling the fake Badger tops for a year or so now.

I started this thread because I was kinda filled in on the details from a reliable source and I wanted everyone to know what they were NOT getting when they bought a top from Rovers North.

It could help, or it could make matters much worse.

I've been thinking about something for a while and today got a reminder. A catalog from RN.

I'm upset that Mark would do something like this to Chris and told them because of their actions to remove my name from their mailing list

Chris as in Badger Chris?? 10 anniversey special?
Got to go look.
Only reason I have not replaced my top - I can not afford it. But I do love the little bids of cloth /duct tape/ and paper I stuff in the cracks.
A full top with rain gutters/ door trim - it 20% of my D-90 value (I have a 1994 in good condition).
As to the comments - you get what you pay for - so true. Only thing that beats that - customer support to which I have never heard a bad thing about Badger.

Designation change

We have changed the title description of our tops. The Badger III is the same pattern as the Badger I. This will make it easier for our customers to choose from the options we offer on our tops.

Badger I GK (gutter kit)
Badger I FDS (fabric door seal)

Badger II GK (gutter kit)
Badger II FDS (fabric door seal)

Badger Half Cab GK (gutter kit)
Badger Half Cab FDS (fabric door seal)

Sew on and sew on...

I'll second that. Just put on my new Badger I with the Gutter Kit and it looks great! I can't believe how much better this thing is! I can't wait to try it out in the rain later this week.

My girlfriend even helped me install everything and she had a great time. She is really coming around this whole rover thing.
