I wonder when the MOD crew cab pick-up will come on the market. That is a sweet truck. What is the symbol that is on most of the trucks the < ?

Why MOD?

The cool factor can't be beat. Think about Janney's 90. It is cool just because it is ex-MOD.

Also, MOD generally has the beef.

Very true. Janney's 90 is even cooler because it has the MOD camo paint, original.

Not to mention:

1. Rolling Chassis: 20k USD (no doors, interior, etc)
------------ or -----------------------
2. ex-MOD Defenders: 2-6k GBP

Beer & time you need to complete either project: Priceless

The "<" sign is a visual recognition that says "Don't shoot! I'm a good guy." My understanding is that is it typically painted in a special paint that shows up on infra-red gun sights like those used on planes and tanks.

This may be a dumb question, but how do you get an ex-mod defender into the States? The oldest ones are 1985, and I thought the rule was 25yrs.

By the way I'm not a customs officer.

Here are some pics of a Defender that got shot up in Iraq.

Here's the link to more, and much bigger/closeups:

http://media.militaryphotos.net/photos/album55

In one of them you can see a shot right through the Defender badge on the bonnet. One of the others shows a shot right through the door, and another of that same shot going into the seat base. If it wasn't for those extra six inches, someone would have taken a shot in the thigh...

note: all high-res ... like just about every pic on EE

I hate seeing pictures of wolf's shot up. That could have been one less truck that will be auctioned off.

That 90 is not a 1980 (the first 90's became available to the public in 85), it's an 84 according to it's VIN and if that is a 2.5NA diesel (which came with that truck) he's dreaming that it gets 30mpg. My 110 is lucky to get 23mpg. Other than that the truck looks pretty nice.

id go out on a limb and say that 90 on ebay was an 86 model purely by the military reg number he listed ... thats a UK military reg number tho so either its got a good history or its an odd one
