I've actually got your back on the two-tone paint thing, that FJ55 posted recently was calling my name (have always wanted one in some sort of 1970s color scheme as they were all various two-tone).

Bill has a Tdi though. Too new for me. I drove a Tdi and hated it. Although Bill's 109 (with my old galvy designa chassis under it) is looking very nice and vintage.

By the way, I have searched the code and no where does it say "to the same specification" or "restoration" (as referenced on the Harland letter) that I can find. If someone has it, please post. The exception to the prohibition on import is just "the vehicle is 25 years old" in 49 USC 30112 and in 30102 it defines a manufacturer in a fairly conventional way.

Hey guys,

So I wake up this morning in Iraq, go into work, and see that my wife emailed me the link to the local news story that ran in Wilmington. What do I see?? MY red 110 on the back of a flatbed truck being taken away by the feds. I had been having some work done to it by Aaron and his guys, so it was sitting on his lot with the rest of his trucks.

I come home on R&R in two weeks, and I wont likely have my truck available to me like I was expecting. WTF!?!?

I just went looking and I can't find it now either. Also the interpretation of the rules section is down on the NHTSA website.

Just read the post above of the guys who's truck was in the pics. Sorry to hear that, that sucks and I hope that you can get your truck back soon.

Looks like an original to me. Sals rear, old style doors etc. Make some phone calls, I bet the seizure order only applies to ones owned by them. I would hire a lawyer.

that does suck, I'm 3 hrs south of there but up there now and then as well. If you need some hands on the ground in wilmington lemme know? Kinda looks like your wife is in wilmington but if not lemme know if you need somewhere to keep it til you/your wife can collect her. My mother in law lives in ILM and got a bunch of buddies there too.

Thanks Chad. My wife is in Wilmington right now, and will call the customs office in the morning to get some answers. She already wrote an email to WECT to give them more info for their news story. Im so pissed right now that this is happening and Im on the other side of the planet. Really Im still in shock right now and am not quite sure what to do. I hope the trucks havent already been taken to the DHS office in Raleigh.

The NAS style rear bumper that CDeWan just had fabricated for me is currently en route to GB4x4 as well. I dont know if anyone will even be there to receive it.

This may turn into a giant fiasco. A giant, and expensive fiasco.

Think they will have a problem with the fact that its a 300tdi and that Sals is now a D1?

Hope not, I have a 300Tdi I got from the Dr about 3 years ago too. Hopefully with having a NC title it'll be fine. I have a SC title for mine. Might not make a difference to the Feds.

I need a bigger Gadsden flag. I could see why the feds would be getting involved if they were selling stolen trucks etc.

I read a Honda board and those fools (Honda people) are alway swapping engines doing RHD conversions etc. The Honda community is flooded with stolen parts cars etc. Ive never read about a "legitimate" shop getting busted, plenty of known groups selling these cars chopping them up and getting a slap on the wirst.

I hope the feds don't come for the trucks that people have bought and titled, I imagine this I going to be a long road for Aaron.

Is there a reason why you're making blanket statements of an asinine nature with no basis for facts (that I, or anyone else) is aware of, and insinuating this is what was occurring at his shop? I lump the above in with the equally as useless comment about the pumas to '84s.

To be fair, they may be pulling the trucks for inspections and to compare against paperwork for what they claim to have in inventory. If your truck is here and registered already I would imagine you are fine, at least that is my hope.

I was looking at a 90 down there about two years ago and dragged my feet until someone else picked it up.

As to ECR, long established business that probably has the paperwork out the wazoo to cover themselves, doubt they will see any problems.

Haven't heard of shops outside of NC but it is definitely fed not local/state. Still early days though and we just know something is happening but no details.

Im not sure I follow. There are people doing far worse things in the automotive community than "rebuilding" Land Rovers.
