Fox guarding your hen house?

That's almost as bad as hiring a fox to guard your hen house...

I suggested to people, we should end these threads, even sent a PM suggestion to a like minded member... but what the hell.
This comment will cause yet another bump.

Aren't you importing a Tithonus 110? Did you make the trip over to inspect it personally?

If not, then I'm wondering if you'll be cool with it if what you end up getting is a rusted out POS?

I agree that there is a risk with buying sight unseen. But if a seller engages in fraud, then he should be exposed. It is analogous to a person leaving their car unlocked and then complaining about someone stealing stuff out of it. Just because the situation could have been prevented doesn't mean the thief shouldn't be punished.

no no ..I don't wax philosophical. but I give you this, History and those who made it , always taught me something, and Abraham Lincoln, must have been a visionary , thinking that one day, you will be in the world, and created this statement, so applicable to you

" Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt "

Abraham Lincoln
Goose,

I am really disappointed in this post.

It was Mark Twain, who lived in my fair state of Connecticut while writing The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, who said that, not Abraham Lincoln. LOL.

Both of you are wrong.

This came out of the Bible in Proverbs 17:28. Abraham Lincoln and Mark Twain tweak it.
Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue.

Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.

I thought it was Burt Reynolds that said that? Or, the other possibility would have been a quote from Goonies.

I think he said it first. That Bible Goose is reading from these days is the New LaBron James version with cuts and paste all over it.

Love ya, Goose!

Nope, thats a different truck. That one was sold to someone on this forum fairly recently IIRC.

I was informed a few days ago that my truck resides in a "secure warehouse" in Virginia Beach, and that it will return to me in exactly the same condition that it was when it was taken from me..... IF they give it back.

But as long as your fellow forum member gets his truck back after such a nightmarish experience, you'd be more than happy to, right?

They will most likely charge an individual. When my truck was 'quarantined', every thing including storage was billable. Every thing, of course, except for the agent's salary.

'Wrongly' is a relative term in a system that does not function by means of courts and 'guilty' or 'not guilty' verdicts. By all accounts they were in the wrong in my case but it made no difference. I won't get into my dumb little story here -- I'm just saying that this agency operates under different rules/laws than your local police or sheriff. They have an amazing amount of power -- all with the pen. No real appeals process.

I can only hope though that this bust is different in that the trucks were seized off port-land. I would hope that there was some vetted investigative process that had to be completed, resulting in a warrant, prior to their 'bust'

What I do not understand is how they can take and keep your 110, it belongs to you not Aaron and I would think that the warrant / seizure would be for Aaron’s property.

Have you talked to a lawyer yet?

Just seems wrong to me that your personal vehicle was taken when it was just there for service.

Sadly for Red I'm guessing it doesn't work like that...when you're securing what could be evidence you secure it all and then sort it out later. (Remarkably like TTPs several of us have used, overseas).

To look at it from their perspective, what you don't want to do is loiter on the objective determining who owns what, and potentially releasing something from the chain of custody that you may find you wanted later. When you've got broad authorities its safer to take everything you think may be relevant and work from there back.
