based on vin and build date that is my assumption...but you know what they say about ASSumptions

But hey all this banter is just fueling the mystery and the fires of doubt...will be VERY interesting when someone comes out with the truth about what happened in Wilmington.

Amen.

Though I'm not too worried about my 2.5NA powered 90. Who illegally import that?

If you read what the EPA has to say, then yes, it's illegal...
if ya got one in, probably isn't gonna be a problem...
if they start checking engine serial numbers when imported, could be a issue...

Molon Labe

As Spartan as this saying may have originally been, we like to think we perfected the delivery in Texas.

What a shame, hope it all turns out ok for everyone involved. I see the site is pulled. If I remember correctly he had some really nice looking trucks at affordable prices.

#00tdis are not categorically illegal. The EPA 21yr exemption refers to the vehicle not the motor. A 300 tdi is a legit replacement for any land rover that is exempt.

Words right out of the mouth of an ex EPA lawyer (not that it means a thing, but if you read the rules enough times it makes sense).......and customs can pretty much do what they want. I doubt very much they will be going after re-powers with the Vin swap felonies being the real juice for the career stats.

I am sure that is wrong...as the 300tdi does not pass any emissions tests - if true then the same could be said for Td5 etc.

This stuff gets so muddy - and everyone has an opinion that clouds the actual facts.
