On my way home from work at 1AM, I tangled with a drunk driver at an undetermined speed. Two things kept the damage minimal. My foot was not on the brake and it was raining. I slid 20 feet from a stop.

Glad you're ok. I was in my Wagoneer which has the "B" heavy duty class 3 hitch and some texting teenager looked up and slammed on the brakes, the nose on her Pontiac dove under and hit me. She needed a new hood, grill and one light. I bet around 3000 in damage. I had a scratch on underside of hitch.

Similar experience when I was rear ended when stopped in a 96' Isuzu Trooper. The Saturn coupe literally went under my car. Lifted my rear axle off the ground. Her car totaled. Mine, the exhaust was bent and resonated.

Glad your good! At least it wasn't in the new VW camper! Your P38 looks nice with just the bumper and not the darn bumper cover! Any real damage? Lower Tailgate, hitch? Their insurance should do a nice job painting your whole truck because we all know the new bumper cover just won't be quite the right color. Maybe they ruined your exhaust too and you now need them to replace it with borla! ;-) Best of luck with everything and well done being aware of how to minimize your damage at impact!

Oh, wait! I just saw your location. Was this drunk driver a citizen with insurance or just illegal with state issued doc's? Fingers crossed!

Don't know about his immigration status. But he did have insurance from some company I've never heard of.
But he went with the popo while I went to the hoho (hospital) at the recommendations of the EMTs.
I have s mild concussion and head laceration though we don't know what I hit my head on.
Airbags did not deploy. So no shrapnel.

Glad to hear he's in the system now and hopefully insured. Well our P38's have no crumple zones and they are tough little tanks. Mines a '98. Whiplash would make more sense than hitting the b-pillar. If your head isn't pressed against the headrest at impact, then the jolt will translate to a boxing glove attached to Mike Tyson into the back of your head. And maybe our leather headrests aren't as supple as we thought! ;-) All the best for a speedy recovery and remember that you're still walking and rollin'!
