Rooftop tents

Last week I was snooping around www.ih8mud.com and came across a guy selling rooftop tents. He is asking $225 plus shipping from Texas. For me it came out to $388. He has or had 40 tents for sale. There are a number of people on the IH8MUD site who have purchased from the guy and seem to be happy with them for the price. Quality is not as good as Hannibal, Howling Moon or Easy Awn but for less than $400 what do you expect. I ordered one from him yesterday. I will let you know how they are when I get it. The tent is made by Mombasa sp?

The tent is being sold in the general merchandise section under the title "rooftop tent blowout"

Got mine a few days ago. UPS beat the crap out of it. Bent the hinges, put the fork lift forks almost through the floor. I have a claim in with UPS. I am still able to use it but bummed that it was messed up in the delivery. It also went from Texas to Washington to California where it sat for two weeks lost in a warehouse.

UPS sucks. Trashed a 1951 Schwinn Panther for me, I put in a claim, they denied it saying that since UPS did not box it, it was my responsibility. (the bike was boxed and crated). Didn't matter that the box fell off the truck when UPS delivered it..

Well after weeks of sitting in the backyard I finaly got the thing mounted. I had to weld a extention piece for the ladder because my truck is too high for the ladder as is. Seems like it will work just fine.

You can try going to www.ih8mud.com and asking there. Someone from that forum bought a bunch and was selling them in Colorado.

Here is the contact info of the guy in Colorado

Chad
970-302-7801
email: jdarbin@yahoo.com

I purchased one from him and he was easy to deal with. Not sure if he is willing to ship them.

FYI he said he still had 30+ of them when he deivered mine in Nov.

It looks fine closed. I don't know how long the cover will last but it looks good right now. I put a cam strap around it just for good measure in high wind while driving. I am at the fire station now but will try and get a picture of it tomorrow when I get home with it closed and the cover on. Set up is very fast but putting the cover on it is a pain because of how high it is. It still only takes me about 5 minutes to close it up and cover it. Not too bad.

Thanks Kevin, that looks like great fun!

I love the street pics from SoCal ... they all look like my Grandmother's street in Long Beach used to

She lived just off Los Coyotes Diag in the glide path for the airport ... I remember watching the planes from the "Tora, Tora, Tora" movie flying in and out

I live almost in the flight path for the approach to Burbank Airport. My son loves watching the planes fly over.
