Rooftop Lighting

So I have seen various combos and am interested on opinions for auxiliary lighting on the roof. In particular, what type... LED, Halogen or HID. I notice many sport the Hella 4000, maybe just a hold over from what you had prior to new technology?

Anyway, I know the general rule of thumb is outside fogs and inside pencil when mounting 4 up there....but many are moving to light bars that flood a lot of area.

So show pics too!!!

I have seen square ones, oblong ones and round ones...I am torn between square and round.

I switched out the one that was there - I put two Rigid "Dually" floods in the rear - I love those lights for that application.

But it is rooftop that has me perplexed...

No need for the night goggles. My wife's Mercedes has a night vision forward looking camera and when it picks out an object (person or animal) it highlights it in yellow. I send her ahead to scout the road and just follow behind.

Great for avoiding running over drunks lying in the highway or deer trying to car jack your car

So i have a Defender light bar, the one that sits out a little in front of the windscreen. It has four tabs on it.

I would love to go with the Vision X canons - I have two of those on the front bumper - but can't really justify the cost of them for something I do not use frequently. I mean when we do events and stuff we do night drives and the like, and maybe when on back roads you could use them (maybe) but it is really infrequently they will get used.

My choices I think go to the Hella's - I have two 500's and figure I should just get 2 more.

i was going to add 2 10-13" led bars (flood or combo) to the roof mount to go with the light cannons -
probably the rigid brand.

I was looking at options the other day for my new toy and I came across a really cool led light bar that is one piece and curves on the outer edges... Will have to wait to see how my rack system comes together but I think I will be going this sort of route on the next toy..
