Roof rack recommendations?

Can anyone recommend a good HALF roof rack that would only cover the passenger/driver section of a D90? Don't want back seats covered. Thanks

Thats a good option Jimmy - thx. Also would be interesting in one that has a slimmer profile - if that exists. Front runner makes nice flat racks, not sure if they come in half size?

I've exhausted a search for this type of rack (assuming for your ST) and the best solution I have seen is custom fabricated cross bars from Wolf or board member James Pierce who did a similar version that were raked back at same degree as the NAS roll cage. Once you get the cross bars in place you are then open to array of "half baskets" or those which go back no farther than the driver and passenger seats. You can also get cross bars from traditional manufacturers like Thule and Yakima, but they don't have that factory elegance and tend to sit higher than necessary making any attached half basket look incredibly out of place. There is a thread on Thule and Yakima cross bars - search it. It includes James Pierce's cross bars mentioned earlier.

Now, there is a lot of junk in the "half basket" market. Most are cheap and will almost immediately.

My top choices for half baskets are:

1). Wolf's half basket is both low profile and extremely stout. Also has a factory feel to it. It's the most elegant of the bunch by far.

2). ARB makes a low profile half basket similar to Wolfs. Probably harder to source though. Not horrible looking. No great, either. Relatively new to their product offering so I've never seen one in person.

People like baja racks but they look like garbage.

Some people go with the Yakima Warrior half basket, but again it looks like garbage.

Start by getting yourself some Wolf cross bars and see what looks good on them. To be honest, you could even forgo the "basket" and simply attach a flat surface to the cross bars and have a lashing system to secure things. That would be the most minimally invasive and practical method.

If love to hear if others have found acceptable half basket solutions.

Check out the half baskets on wolffab.com. We can make you anything/style/size you want.

Cheers
