Roof Rack Porn

Thumbs up for Front Runner's utilitarian design...went for a 3-piece set vs the usual 2-pc set...took my crude diy 110 roof cradle like a champ:

I was looking at racks for the LR3 today. I guess Urban Offroad is out of business?

I love the Hannibal that I have. Amazingly SOLID. Fits the roof top tent, awning, couple Pelican cases on the front, no problems. What I like best is the clamp system, the clamps are all connected by a rail that runs the length of the rack in the gutter, distributing the weight the length of the gutter.

Downside... pretty much impossible to find on the continent...unobtanium.

Agree on the Hannibal. I have the Frontrunner rack on another truck and the side to side cross slats create noise. Conversely, the Hannibal slats run the length of the vehicle, eliminating any wind noise. Also - the design specs are similar, so all the frontrunner parts fit perfectly on the Hannibal without modification. (Table slides, anchors, etc)

The slats running North-South on the Hannibal was one of the things that made sense to me. I figured the East-West of the Front Runner would be noisy. The lack of longitude strength on the FR was the other thing I considered when comparing the two.

Bonus that all the FR goodies fit the Hannibal!

Hannibal was the way to go for me

I chose the Hannibal for it's low profile, strength and minimum weight. I use it all the time for carrying oversized loads as well as using it as a shooting platform for my large format photography work. I installed a plywood deck on mine so it is easy to walk around on and for my tripod. - I also designed an air dam at the from the rack to minimize wind noise while driving at speed. When I recently re sprayed the front end of my truck - I took the air dam down and painted it white - (just for a change). I am not sure I like the color yet - but it is easy to take down and re spray.

I do believe they're out of business, but this is second hand info so please verify. The PO of my D90 had purchased a rack from them for his previous 95 ST and convinced him to make one more for the 95 SW that I eventually bought. So supposedly I have the last D90 rack made.

A lot of LR3/4 folks in our club went with Baja Rack, which is what I have on my RRS.

Pretty happy with my LR4 rack from Voyager. You may want to give them a look.

I may be selling mine sometime in the near future. LR4 going back to mall crawler duties.

I've got a used 110 Hannibal full rack for sale...

Still I prefer the FrontRunner for the modularity and single component replaceability.

I had Voyager build a custom rack for my G4 back when they were in Portland. Was very happy with their work, great rack!

Was actually the wife's rig till the engine blew... miss that truck. She wants another D2 with a diesel. May try to find one and do a Td5 swap.

I built mine with the full length support along the rain gutters as well. Chicken coop flooring serves as a sturdy enough deck to walk on.

It's this guy's 2000 110 top: O Carro |

...he posted a Medford or Seattle-only fs ad here on DSource awhile back bc he decided mid-trip he wanted a pop-up top - maybe after seeing one in particular at that show in Flagstaff? Something like that. He got his $ & I've got more clutter.

Yes, the CargoBear is pretty slick!

Peter is out of stock on those and the roof top tents. All the cool stuff is never there when you want it. LOL

hoping not to hijack, but are there any options for a full length rack and ladder on a fiberglass hardtop tithonis? I assume you have to cut through to allow mounting on the interior roll cage?
