Unhappy roof rack alternatives - safety devices

I have, yet again, been out bid or to slow on a roof rack for the d90. I love the look of the original safety devices rack but at this point am thnking of alternatives. The other thread on the site, by rusty, has him looking more to the underside for his grand, I am top side.
The last rack on this site went for ~ $1700 and they seem to average $1600 - $2000 and I have about $1000.00. I have been looking for a full length top with twin ladders for my 1994 ST.

Do I give up, or can someone offer suggestions (oh yeaah, I am completely incapable of building my own).

Roversolutions Back Pack Rack. Drop Kyle a line...

Ordered a Back Pack Rack from Kyle on the D-web. It's not SD or OEM, but I need a rack I can take off and one that fits in a parking garage. I custom ordered a rear ladder and 3 mouting points. Pull Pal, Jack, and shovel and also got a rear light tab for the future. No goofy curve on the legs like the disco version. Just straight down. Best part was it was 600 complete with ladder.

It will easily hold 2 of the large pelicans along with the EE Jery Can holder. It's bigger than the Disco one on the site.

This fits my needs. I didn't want a permanent rack, but just something small that I could throw on, wheel tight wooded trail, and then take off sunday night.

I'll post pics when it arrives.

I don't think that rack will work on a '94 ST. but I'm sure it will look sweet on your SW.

I don't know the prices but Rovers North makes a rack for the ST 90. I'd give them a call.
Insert pithy quote here.

I'm having one custom fabbed for my truck. Happen to have access to "scrap" metal at work and I've cut it all out of some heavy aluminum (I hope it holds up).
See if there's a custom fabrication shop close to you and get them to quote you.
