Road Trip PART III!!!!!

My boss is heading out for the first three weeks of April so that means I should get at least two weeks off, SO where should Janey the 110 (www.whereisjaney) go now?

Ideas:

Newfoundland and Labrador
Alcan
Mexico (maybe not as I am not sure I could get Janey back into the US)
UPI of Michigan

I would really like to do some (ok a lot) middle of no where off highway dirt road driving.

Ron

PS hopefully (if pendy sends me the water pump and fan clutch) she will be at winter romp for her east coast debut. I would say "shake down" but two trips all the way across the country and a trip from New Hampshire to philly I think she is shaken down (hopefully not broken down).

I meant the ALCAN 5000 http://www.alcan5000.com/

I wonder if anyone has ever campaigned a Rover. There's an FJ competing this year.

alcan5000 it is!!!!! But I will have to wait for 08 on that one.

A stock X3 made it, Janey will be fine.

I can't decide what would be more fun. Leaving her bone stock and throwing on some nokians or doing it right with a 4.6 EFI and LHD swap I have been planning.

Ron

PS Hey JimC, can I borrow the extra heater back? ;-)

I actually bought my D90 just to make that trip. I`ve been wanting to drive it since I was a kid. Still hasn`t happend (i`ve got the time, but due to my 90`s track record, i dont have the $$), but with any luck it may happen in April or May (pending what else decides to crap out on me). Just to throw it out there, I don`t know if anyone else would be interested in caravaning.

i've wanted to do that forever. it would take a good 3 months of preparations with supplies and fixing the trucks to get them all ready to go. but It is one of my dreams to do that with my 90. take off 3 months and just go down the west side of South America and back up the east side and back to the US. i think it would be an amazing trip!

keep me posted Nathaniel im always done to go!!

The ALCAN would be good if you shipped Janey to the left coast and went from there. If you do it from your house it will be 10k of driving in 2 weeks, which doesnt leave much room for anything else.

I suggest Newf and Lab. Thats a trip I've always wanted to make.

Sorry about the heater, but thats going to be installed in the QJII (Queen Janey II) for Russia. No, its not bought yet, but we're shopping.

Mexico,
And I'm on board. Plus we will do the left hand drive conversion in route. With the steering wheel and other controls moved at different times. Just like drivers ed class.

Or no waterpump.

Boystown in Mexico. Don't bother learning any spanish its the international language down there $

I second that. I'm slowly working towards getting the 110 ready to do a Canadian border-to-border (from BC to Newf) in a couple years.

for the trip bone stock would be the way to go, simpler, cheaper parts, easier repairs, and doing what it was designed to do. You know as well as I do, that when you start messing with an old truck it opens up a pandoras box of problems that would have remained hidden for 10 years.
