Road trip mishap (LR content)

#9:

Your Craziest Road Trip Mishap Stories

Witholding comments... but notably, while looking up recent threads to be sure I wasn't repeat posting, I came across one entitled, "seizure mistake article." Similar description; entirely different content.

He's a member here. Reading the NYC to Moab part and about all of the gear in the truck I knew who it was immediately. Sflash868

even one big thumper mounted off the back would give me the willies in a 110!
That's two heavy thumpers off the back of a 90!

It screams "wheelie"

It reminds me of an old favorite (one of the original extreme sports videos) Crusty Demons of Dirt II, when they lash two 250s to the roof of a Range Rover Classic from LA to the desert.

Eh, take it easy on Steve. He's a good guy and quite honestly he knew going in that the rear of the truck was overloaded.

Kudos to him on taking a risk and having the nuts to tell a story about it. Sometimes in life you only have what you have, and you make do with what you've got.

Ha, I can't believe Jalopnik picked that up.

Yeah the photo with the bikes was taken 3 days before that whole ordeal in Kansas. Was the same trip. 2 days later I met Bill for the first time at GBR. I called him frantic from Colorado (It was my first road trip, had a new girlfriend in the car with me, first time going to Moab, tight time schedule) and he told me to come by the shop and he'd take care of it. Gave him the diff, they did it same day, and I spent the afternoon under the truck in front of his shop putting it all together while the girl sat in a lawn chair next to the truck cleaning bolts with brake cleaner that Bill gave her. Drove through the night to Moab and ran Hells Revenge the next morning.

Good times
