Smile Road Trip Accross the USA

Road Trip Accross the USA
Well I was layed off from my job after 13 years and decided to take a trip.
Left Ma on Monday and Im currently in Yakima WA and will be headed for a little offroading then up to Mt Rainer. I think Ill head up to seattle then head south and try and drive the coast as much as possible WA, Oregon, and CA. Hopefully make it down to San Diego, then home via CO
If you are on the route reach out and maybe we can catch a beer or do some wheeling
cheers
Ron

you should stop in Ouray around the 13th for the LR Rally! If you change your route back and come through Tejas you'll have to stop and check out my area! Good Luck!!

Looks like an opportunity to do a "walkabout" around the country. Very nice truck to be in while you are at it. Enjoy it, as work will find a way back to you sooner than you think.

Years ago I was on a similar trip in my old BMW and on my way home (hangin' in the FL Keys) a company exec from a previous place i worked heard I was "available" and asked me to come back for much more coin than my last gig. So it was a slightly extended vacation for me :-)

Have fun and safe travels!

Obviously I am here in San Diego, as are several other D-90 crazies... let us know when you are coming and perhaps we can show you why San Diego is now the premier city in the US for good beer?

If you find yourself in trouble in Idaho my cousin has a place just outside Boise and would lend a hand to someone in need.

You will tire of CA Highway 1... I recommend going down Highway 101 from Crescent City down into the Bay Area, cross the golden gate, and then head out to the 1 until you hit Ventura, then come back to civilization and take the 101 and the 5 down to San Diego. The PCH is a beautiful stretch of road, but in a Defender it's a vomit inducing ride that rivals some kind of NASA space simulator.

You camping along the way, hotels, what?

Wish I had the courage to handle situations like that. If you cross near Yellowstone or Montana please drop a line, like to cross paths.
Best of luck!

The above statement is highly debatable.

Have a great trip!

There are great campsites along your route... Mendocino National Forest has some great stuff, Los Padres, even if you feel adventurous lots of beach sites along the way as well.

If you like to camp while on the road, there's an ipad add called "Allstays" which maps out every state, national and private campground, then provides detailed info and links to their websites...It's an amazing app that has really helped us out a lot on the road! Keep us informed of the progress of your trip and be safe!

If you go through Jackson, Wyoming, look up Hunter Hueman at Snake River Anglers. Tell him I sent you. Fly fishing guide and a good friend of mine.

My dad was born in Wallace back when it was booming. You must have just skirted the panhandle.

Stay safe through the hippy states!
