Residential Zone Parking in Arlington, VA

So with the completion of my frame-off, I have decided to move to Arlington, closer to DC where the rest of my life is.

I found an apartment with permanent off-street parking for my dear Defender, but I have a quandary with my commuter car. I will need to acquire a Zone Parking Flexpass for my Honda, but I need to know if I can park it long-term without moving it in a Zone parking spot, since I will be using the metro a lot from now on.

Does anyone know if I can just park my Flex-passed car in the proper Residential Zone parking spot for weeks at a time?

OK...another dumb question: Is zone street parking usually booked up completely so that it's impossible for permit-holders to find parking? Or is there generally enough spots to park the car, though it might incur a short walk?

Depends entirely on your neighborhood. Generally speaking, though, the county only makes residential streets zone parking if there is a parking issue, so there's a good chance you'll need to fight it out.

Where's the new place?

Still up in the air, but I am looking at either lee heights, colonial village, or south clarendon....

Thanks again guys. I drove around colonial village the last few nights and found zero spots. No go for a two car owner...
