Range Rover Front Brake Caliper Question

Can a Range Rover Front Brake Caliper be used on my series coil conversion????? I just noticed that there are 2 brake lines running into the caliper. Can these be setup for a 1 line defender style setup?

Randy

Those are the calipers I've got. At this point in building your rig up I would pick up some D90 calipers, if only to not have to deal with getting the 2 circuits crossed up.

We use twin line calipers all the time on coil conversion. There is no issue and I can send you the plumbing diagram for them on a coil rig.
However, it is a heck of a lot simpler to use a single input caliper if you have a chance to get some.

Mike, that would be great just in case I can't find a set of single line units. Other then the d-90 what other rovers have the single line caliper?

The 110 has them too.
In fact I have a pair of early single line 90 calipers laying in my workshop unused and unloved since converting to the later larger calipers. shipping would probably be prohibitavely expensive though.
Just a thought if you're interested

Mike, are the calipers for vented disks or solid diske? what do you think shipping would be? What kind of shape are they in?

If I get a pair of disco calipers, can I just bolt a set of solid discs onto the hubs? Will this work?

They're in a sort of "I've off-roaded them in best Brisish Mud" shape - used but looked after. They're solid disc type calipers
Calipers are pretty weighty items and thick brown paper and some string probably won't cut the mustard as packaging. Shipping would probably end up quite expensive. I can post a pic of the calipers if you're interested, I wouldn't want that much money for them.
I'll have a look under the wife's Discovery 1 and see what the calipers are like, I thought they were twin line like the classic Range Rover. Goodness knows what I'll find when I do venture under there though! Loading some stuff into the boot resulted in needing to weld in a whole new rear floor - you've never seen rust like it!
As to whether you need solid or vented discs depends on the caliper - if there's a spacer between the two halves of the calipet then they're for a vented disc which is thicker. both types of caliper and disc will bolt onto the axle though!

Randy,
Call me at the shop tomorrow. I found the shifter you asked me about and I have a set of D90 calipers kicking around under the bench that may be of use to you.
