Ralph Lauren photo shoot

I got a call last week from creativefilmcars.com asking me if it would be ok to use my truck in a Ralph Lauren photo shoot out in Montauk, Long Island. I thought this would be great! I would love to see my truck in a RL catalog. They sent me a contract and payment of $400 dollars, which wasn’t too bad at all. Hell I would have done it for free. I told them I have a hard top and a rack and a winch that I could throw on for the shoot, but in the end they just wanted it to be convertible and all the Hella lights removed. The contract stated that I need the truck looking spotless and clean, so I spend most of my weekend/week cleaning all the mud off it. They also said they would have a guy drive it out for me or I could drive it to the shoot myself. There was no way in hell I was going to left some yahoo drive my truck for 3 hours, put crap gas into it and then roll it.

I took the day off from work and drove out to Montauk for the shoot on Tuesday to this historic Stone House (I guess it was the honeymoon spot for Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio). The house and location was amazing! Anyways, they shot the truck with a family, singles, with dog, without dog, you name it. I was laughing to myself a lot, because I can see all the imperfections in the truck and how and why they are there, yet nobody knew. I also tried to get them to shoot the front of the truck so that Rock Ware, Rover Tracks and Rover Hybrids could get their parts shown into a Ralph Lauren catalog but in the end most of the shots were from the side and rear. I think you can see Len’s GPS mount and Troy’s storage boxes in the shots. Also a big thanks for Ron for the snorkel and sliders, they will most likely be in the shot!

Now, can anyone spot mistakes on the truck? And some Winter Romp damage?

That's great. Like the pics. Based on their past images with Rovers, I'm guessing this will be a tight shot where only close features of the truck are seen.

i don't think your tires are large enough. what, 35's?

did they remove the diagonal pillar, or did you? the broken light is a nice touch. I don't know what it is about that particular light on the rear corner panel- i never broke any other light- but I must have smashed a half dozen of those on my old truck.

Too Cool. I wonder if any of the models got grease or grime on their cloths? Seems like my wife always ends up with something on her cloths after riding int he Defender. LOL!

35s on retained 3 inch RoverTym springs with LR rubber isolators, 14 inch Bilstein 7100s on all 4 corners. it sit a bit high for my liking. I would do a 2 inch with the rubber isolators instead because they give about a 1/2 inch more to the lift. or no isolators at all, because in reality i doubt they cut down on vibrations at all.

I had the diagonal pilars off because I threw on the soft top and didn't feel like removing Troy's storage boxes in the back to fit the diagonal piece in there. Will get to that later. I broke that light at the Winter Romp this year. its a funny break cause the body is fine, just the light broke when it hit some ice when the rear of the truck was sitting in a pond.

They look pretty good to me.

This looks like a good combination to me....D-90, girl, house.

I imagine once she opens her mouth that might change though.

They were both super hot, but seeing as they
were wearing clothing for the Fall catalog....well you couldn't see all that much.
The one girl was like "whoa they make convertable Land Rovers? i'll trade you my 2008 Range Rover Supercharged for it!"

I was a bit suprised too, but then again, the side marker was busted, im missing the rear light guard too, but im sure they will photoshop them all out. Photoshoping a car is easy compared to clothing.

Heck ya I was at the Romp! I got wasted with Jimmy the second night. Put your truck up on that site, you might get a call to model it with some nice ladies and try to score some numbers! And yeah, I might ditch the isolators or do a 2 inch spring for Utah.

Do you run wheel spacers with those 35's? It doesn't look like it, but I can't imagine how horrible your turning radius is.
