R380?

I read somewhere that there was a "longthrow" and "shortthrow" R380. Can anyone verify?

Its the length of the shift lever. Disco's have the short throw, defenders the long.

There are "long shaft" and "short shaft" defender R380s. The long shaft is what you have in a NAS D90 V8. The short shaft is a replacement for the LT77 found behind 200Tdi and 2.5 N/a trucks. The 300Tdi R380 is different still as is the disco as is the P38a one etc.

They were available from 94 to 97 ... not sure how many were brough in, but they're not overly rare.. I've wheeled with a handful of people who have them.
