Ding!

------ Follow up post added May 18th, 2015 11:12 PM ------

I always wait for the RPMs to come down before putting in gear. And when Rover has been sitting for long enough to cool down I never take the engine over 2k RPM for first 4 miles in the summer and 5 miles in the winter to give the oil a chance to warm up and flow better.

Everytime I park I get on my hands and knees and do drip inventory. I'm sure people think I'm Insane.

Unless the fluids are clearly visible from the side of the vehicle i assume it's not bad enough to worry about yet.

It's not insanity until you start licking it off the ground!

So putting your finger in it & then smelling to see what it might be is still considered sane.

One memory from the Defender that has stuck with me is MAR 2004 when we did a big Defender photo and everyone started their rigs at the same time and it was a chorus of "beloved dings" on the hill.

Maybe a reason it sticks with me is I have the photo framed in my office...

One of the others is the rain gear we kept in the Tuffy console because it was easier to put pants and a jacket on than the dang soft top.

My new defender 94 #334 has no ding.

Not to hijack this thread, but I want my ding back. How the hell do I get my ding back?
