Question on ZA Defender

Hi,
New to this forum- joined last week to research a 1989 110 ( currently on ebay / 122 mileage):

(sorry, so new I can't put in links)

I saw the vehicle first hand at a car show over Father's Day. Other than the RHD ( not an issue with me), and 3.5, I'm trying to figure out if moving on this vehicle is advisable or not.

Thanks in advance!

IMO, not adviseable if you haven't driven it and had it inspected by a qualified mechanic, preferably one of the known quantities recognized here on Dsource.

From the ebay listing initial takeaways:

No pics of problem areas is suspicious; doors, bulkhead, outriggers, rear cross
Pics are super low res
Ac and HEAT are non functional; one is cheapish to fix the other isn't
Galv frame looks like tons of caked mud on it; ridden hard and put away wet

I'd steel well clear unless a real thorough ppi was done. It looks like no major service has been completed In years so expect to replace all fluids, filters and rubber

Seems like a deal for a v8, 5 door, on a galv chassis. It's in Arlington. There are a lot of knowledgeable forum members in that area, maybe have one of them check it out for you.

Is there any way to tell a Leyland made vehicle from a AAD or kit vehicle made in SA?

And which is the trickier to fix, the AC or heater?

Just told the wife you can always put on another jacket.....
