I've heard nothing but great things about them... My buddy who owns a shop has been trying to get me to sell me RR and pick up an LR3.

Plus, Pendy has a set of lockers for one.

I bought my '08 with about 50k on the clock and it now has almost 85k...no problems whatsoever and love driving it. Changed the diff fluids at about 75k miles and got the injection service done at the dealership. Was getting around 17mpg with Continental Crosstracs and then put a set of Cooper Zeons which brought me down to 16mpg. I do not have a rear locker and have had no problems with traction. Don't let Jason scare you about water ingress...I have had no issues with that either.

Lastly, if you have an '08 or newer you do not need the Blackbox to reset the service indicator...you can do it using the trip reset in the truck

Good timing with rekindling the LR3 discussions. With child #3 due any day now, the 4Runner looked awfully small after installing the baby seat yesterday. I've been looking for an excuse to move to a LR3 for sometime and now is a good as any.

To the VA HH guys, please keep your eyes open for a a clean one for me: V-8, 7-passenger, 40-65k miles.

Speaking of reliability, you can not miss with Toyota. My 2005 4Runner Sport has 88k and the only maintenance to it has been regular oil/filter changes, 1 air filter, 1 set of pads and recently installed the second set of tires ( the taller FJ size 265/75 R17).

Control arm bushings
Pinion seals
Axle seals
Transmission connector sleeve leaks
Thermostat
Coolant bleeder hose
Parking brake failure due to improperly installed rear brakes

Those is the most common issues I can think of at the moment. Overall they are pretty good cars, I think the full size (06+) range rover is a much better vehicle though.

Yep, I've had my front pinion seal & thermostat go...aren't that bad of a job to do yourself though.
