Problem With New Mantec

First ---- This is not me complaining. I'm pretty excited about getting the tire carrier. I'm posting just to see what experience you've all had with this type of thing, what worked best.

I found a problem with the new Mantec tire carrier I got today from Rovers North. Nothing big, but it means I can't install till it is fixed. One of the stud bolts on the plate that mounts to the rear door is just slightly out of alignment enough that the piston won't fit on the plate. If I had bought this used, I'd drill out a bit of the piston mounting hole to make it fit, and I'd never think of it again. But....

So, I don't want to send this back ...partly because I already dismantled the boxes... and partly because it's something like $60 for shipping. So I'm hoping they will only make me send the one plate back.

So do I talk to Rovers North or do I call Mantec? I'm planning on calling Rovers North on Monday if no other wisdom is posted here.

You're in a tough spot because RN might have the same feeling as you and not want to do the repairs themselves. They might be obligated to send it to their supplier.

I would be annoyed, but I would drill it out and forget about it. I wouldn't be able to wait to get it on anyways!

Let's see a photo of the issue.
It's odd that after making these things for decades that a problem would appear.

Just call RN. Their problem, not yours. I'm sure they will send you a replacement. If you ask, they will probably even send a call tag to return the first one. You can use the box the second one came in to make the return.

But if the second unit was part of the same batch. It's likely to have the same issue.

You could ask them to check the fit before they send it. If it's a manufacturing issues with the batch, Mantec should make it good.

Not sure how else to show what is going on. It's just that those two studs are too close together for the piston to slip on. Tried it every which way I could.

This is how some do it. If this doesn't happen, I'll probably just drill it myself.
