Mother's Day is on Sunday, so I bought the same bouquet of flowers for my mom and my gf's mom. After paying for the actual bouquet, then the $13 Standard Delivery, $5 Guaranteed Delivery, and $3 Care and Handling (NONE OF WHICH I ASKED FOR), plus tax, they came out to about $55 EACH. Honestly, any amount is fine as it's fer me ma but I expect to have some value for the money I'm spending. Never mind the fact that after paying $13 for STANDARD DELIVERY it doesn't apparently mean it's guaranteed to actually be delivered, or cared and handled, but the bouquet looks NOTHING like the ad.

Photo 1 - the ad

WOW bouquet to the GF's mom too?? That is some pro level, panty-droppin sh*t right there..

I am doing the same right now and I will come back and post the resulting brownie points i earn (and subsequently cash in) that doing this gets me. Great call.

Yea, that's $hitty. It's happened to me before... Call the company, make a complaint, and demand a refund. To you, it was false advertising.

It's a bad economy... So, the flower guy split the bouquet into to two vases...

There's a LOT wrong with those arrangements but it's nice that you bothered

Note that the initial advert says 6 roses and 10 stems of "Peruvian lillies"... By my count you can see all 6 roses in the teaser picture. I wonder what the other side of that bouquet looks like?

Josh. Its marketing and advertising. Whens the last time your meal looked like the one in the photos? Professional photography for food, flowers and products are set up by professional stylists using only the select of sometimes hundreds of samples from which to choose. Now add in professional lighting and camera technique with lots of post production to take the already super fabulous image and make it more brilliant and color correct.
Your mum will love ya for thinking of her.

Wait, I thought florists ARE PROFESSIONAL STYLISTS?? This isn't me saying my Big Mac doesn't look the same on the TV as it does when some 13 year old makes it, or that my toothpaste never comes out the same on my toothbrush as it does in the commercials. This product isn't judged by how it tastes or cleans or drives, but how it LOOKS. This is a product based SOLELY on presentation, and I would therefore expect the actual product to be presented as closely as possible to the actual ad.

Should I ask the moms to count the number of Peruvian Lilies?

I usually do, as I'm big into "supporting local" - but the florist near my parents did not answer for 2 days, and so I just went the big box store route.

Sucks but Mark is correct, it is just a picture made to sell the product the fine print where it says how many of each is what they are obligated to provide.

If you count them and they match what the ad says then you got what you paid for. If not (and I do not think it will) then you were shorted.

Wish they would make them show the real products even for food

This is exactly why I always call a local florist in the town of wherever the delivery is to be. I'm not a fan of proflowers for exactly this reason.

That's the point of sending them to the GF's mom, right?

Florists are just people with the job. Some are artists, some just work there. What I meant was that a specific artist is hired for photoshoots to create the most beautiful presentation. Being a designer and professional photographer I see them in person.

When I used to shoot food we had a food stylist. You can't eat the food afterwards. The meats are seared outside only with propane torch and tools. Greens and other veggies are often not cooked, and have glycerin on them etc.

Arrangements are created photographically to sell the product. Its disappointing when your hard earned $$ is not represented in the product purchased compared with what was shown.

I used to shoot for Subaru and Hummer. When we shoot cars we weigh them down with lots of sand bags to make them appear more aggressive. Lighting is a big thing. Well... I won't blather on you get the point.
Your mom will love yah!

Sometimes you have to put on your pants and get out from behind the keyboard to make a worthwhile effort on things like this.

Just sayin'

Buy local, by dropping by to pick up and inspect what you are presenting as a gift.
