Wow! Is that a light saber? I guess you could build one big enough to run a chassis thru....

Who'd be pushing? Yikes! ;-) Jk.

That thing is amazing!!! I wonder what happens if you linger too long in one spot?

Looks like they ARE real:

It is not a joke. It is real. The laser was featured on the "Showdown of Unbeatable." I watched an episode actually a few days ago. Laser gun is only a part you see. You have a refrigerator connected to the end of the gun.

In the episode, it was going against the epoxy goating that gets applied to the top of the air craft carrier and it won.

Yeah, it's the real deal. Even my little 20 watt fiber laser will 'shave' the surface, including light corrosion, when marking. Granted, it can take more than one pass, it definitely works.

Here is another vendor state side and they were selling the 500W demo unit for only $275,000. I guess the 100W could get the job done and that's only $135,000.

It's real...Cleanlaser systems out of germany.

Not hard to do given high energy pulsed lasers, all of which are very expensive. My guess is a photoablative process. Not sure what the tubes are in the back...probably vacuum to clear smoke from the optical path.

Yup. I notice that during the "competition" that it sucks in the debris or whatever is burning off of the surface.

Electrolysis. Way cheaper, and probably less carcinogenic.

I'll take my tub of water, battery charger, and scrap metal over this dangerous contraption any day!
