pimp my landy

yeah - i know it's sacrilegious, i but got my landy detailed last week... amusing picture of the guy sitting on the roof to buff it.

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...50187133292540

i also had them install the more modern looking bonnet decal while they had the wax off ... i wasn't sure i would love it, but the look is growing on me more than the original squishy logo.

Cleaning your truck is not sacrilegious at all, but i'd probably shoot the guy in the face for sitting on the roof and sunroof. Kudos to them for masking all the stuff that shouldn't be buffed. I bet the truck looks great.

X2 on that one....your roof is screwed........ and the sunroof sure doesn't need any help having issues.... that guy should be adding salt to the fries at Mc D's,.... not detailing...yikes

If someone sat on my roof i would not be happy! A detailer should have more care and respect than to even think about doing that.

I'm sure it looks great after being done.

Sitting on the roof, with shoes ON even. That is just dumb and really careless.

That said, truck looks GREAT!

Light surrounds in gray but a black grill? For shame. Truck looks good though. When you need help with the headliner since the sunroof now leaks let me know.

Land Rover on the bonnet looks good. I have been considering the same thing or replacing with a puma bonnet. More pics?

Puma hood really? Would that be like running a cowl hood on a 4cyl mustang, really sweet.

I have to agree. Puma hood on a v8 seems kinda effeminate

Thanks for the comments.

Regarding the guy on the roof yeah my first reaction was shes built like a tank and can take it, but the more I mulled on it I had similar concerns.

The company that did it (for those in Seattle) was NW Auto Salon, they are one of the most respected detailing outfits in the area. Check out their blog they do some impressive work mostly on collectors or sport cars.

That said - putting a guy on the roof is a pretty questionable prospect. I spoke to the owner today about it story is that they just moved into a new shop and dont have their scaffolding yet. He owns a D-90 SW also, and made the call to climb on the roof. Said that his detailer on the roof is one of his best and was extremely careful to not put his feet on painted surfaces, but apologized for bad judgment call sitting on the sunroof and offered to cover any damage should it leak.

While the method was somewhat unorthodox, the final finish was pretty stunning (and the roof is as smooth as a babies bottom) they buffed out a lot of swirls in the paint that now looks and feels immaculate.

Barry as for the gray surrounds thats was one of the things Dan (FleaBus) mentioned he was going to paint before selling me the truck. Its on my to-do list... oh - and careful what you say - I may just take you up on your headliner advice - mine is getting a little saggy...

Ah I didn't realize it was the same truck. I have seen it in person a few times. Looks good. Let me know if you have any questions regarding the headliner. It's easy to do in a 90.

I don't see the Puma hood (bonnet). But I do like the Land Rover Logo (as found on the Puma trucks) on the bonnet. Did you source it from Safari Rover? Truck looks great by the way.

decal only. have to admit, unless it's on an svx, i find the puma hood a little goofy. hasn't grown on me yet.

can i? i thought i had to wax-oil it or something if i pressure wash it. right now she's marking her territory - so whatever minor drips happen splash up all over the underside at speed.
