Photobucket Begins Blocking Third Party Hosting

Photobucket has begun blocking third party hosting and is offering a $400 a year package to restore your image links here: Your access to 3rd party hosting is temporarily disabled.

Since D-Source doesn't allow direct image uploads we could lose a majority of our pics overnight.

I have always just clicked on the attach button here and it uploads the pic.

Seems to work for me?

Are you not able to upload pictures to the site?

Yes, but you won't be able to link back to your pictures on Photobucket thru HTML coding.

I run another forum a bit larger than this one and members image links are beginning to be blocked by Photobucket's site.

A quick Google search is showing online communities blowing up over "being held hostage" by Photobucket. See here: https://www.ghacks.net/2017/06/30/ph...hosted-images/ and here: Photobucket Breaks Image Links Across the Internet - Web.com Web Hosting

And that is exactly why you should attach them instead of linking.

I have been a member of other forums that do not allow attaching images and require you to link and it is always an issue because the users delete photos and suddenly a very useful post becomes useless without the pictures.

Having the ability to attach instead of link is one of the great things about this forum since there is a better chance that pictures will be available years later in posts.

Thanks for posting about the issue and hopefully people will use the attachment feature instead of linking to photo bucket or others

^Ditto!!!

Nothing more frustrating (forum wise) than trying to search old threads to learn about your project only to find the pictures are gone, then asking a question and having the unwashed tell you to use the search feature, "that's been answered a million times."
