pelican coolers

I got an email from Pelican. It looks like they are coming out with a line of coolers.

http://www.pelicancases.com/35Q-MC-p/35q.htm

I need to weigh some of my other ones. It looks like these are quite heavy compared to cheapo's. When I fly weight is an issue with 70 lb bag limits so I am limited to the 45qt one...

Price seems fair as my chepos last about two trips with the airlines..

I saw that when I was on their site this weekend. If you buy one please post. I'm picking up my first Yeti this week and thought how interesting it would be to compare. Pelican locks and I don't belive the Yeti does.

I may hold off on the Yeti as I compared the specs this morning. I like the looks of the Yeti more but will, most likley go with pelican. the products are the same with the exception of pelican having a larger profile.

I'd go with the Engel brand over Yeti. Fairs better in independent tests. It has thicker insulation.

as it looks...they are about the same. Pelican created their line to directly compete with the other two. Pricing, size, insulation, features. I have a Engle refer/freezer now for my trailer and like it just fine. May just do the Pelican since I am going that way with my other cases. Currently I have one engle product and 17 Pelican so...

I might try one of the Pelicans. Not sure how they will hold up to regular plane travel. This fall alone it will have 6 flights... I know the gun case holds up.

I own 2 Yeti's and I wouldn't own any other cooler. They do lock. I have a friend that has an Engel and they are not as nice as the Yeti.

I have two Yeti's as well and they are great. You can lock them with a pad lock of your own.

The pelican looks nice but Yeti already has the high-end durable cooler market locked down. I don't own one but have lusted after them a while... inspected em' top to bottom and they are incredible pieces of plastic. I've used em' on guided fishing trips and their ability to keep ice in the heat of the south was nothing short of phenomenal.

Unfortunately - they cost an arm and a leg.

I've been thinking about pulling the trigger on a Yeti Roadie to replace my 16qt Igloo of about the same size. The Igloo is my favorite cooler these days because it is big enough to hold a good bit for a trip to the beach or a day in the boat. It tends to be the default size I use most. Any of you have the Roadie 20? I saw one at a Sportsman Warehouse a little while back and it looks like a good size but I'm wondering if y'all find it to be handy.

Looks like the Yeti 35qt is almost 10lbs lighter than the 35qt Pelican, but that Pelican looks tough

Thomas you'll have to share some details if those are hunting adventures!

Also I think you said you attend DSC's annual show; if so, gunmaker will be there so we should all meet up.

Have you looked at engel 19 qt cooler? I know a yeti will keep colder longer but its pretty heavy for a day cooler.

I bought the engel 19 and was perfect for a day trip (OBX tested ) Ice was still there after the day was over.

Ended up leaving a bigger igloo back at the house we were renting..

Fills up perfect amount with a 10lb bag of ice and choice of beverages.

when you add it to the "shopping cart" it lowers the final price.

I found this searching for a place to get one. Can't comment on legitimacy.

I went to the web site in the ad. They have some cool stuff but didn't see any pelican stuff. I'll go back later and sniff around.

Cheap ass

Because I am a known cheap ass I was able to source a coupon code for Pelicancases.com

271J8V2C takes 5% off and they are offering free shipping.

Looks like the better deal.
