Passing of Bill Caloccia

Ben Smith reports that Bill passed away yesterday. A true enthusiast who will be missed. If you didn't know, he was the long time host of the LRO list. Back in the days before forums existed, it was how we all communicated with one another. Thanks Bill for all you did for us.

He was a good friend. Used to see him at all the events and weekend gatherings that Ben, Bruce and Howard put on. Always had a smile on his face and positive outlook no matter what. Rest in Peace Bill

Think you could say he invented the LR forums.
He was a giant when organizing the 50th event at Greek Peak. Enjoyed greatly his updates about his trip this summer and restoration of his SWB

Bill set up the original Land Rover Daily Digest via Majordomo software which was the beginning of the online Land Rover community that started in the late 1980s.
I first met Bill at the Beaulieu Autojumble in England when Bill lived there.
He got to know various Land Rover members and participated in UK club events.
I will always recall Bill riding in Quinton's 80" at many of the MARs.

Bill did so much for so many...
Never heard anyone say anything negative about Bill.
Bill always had a big smile on his face and enjoyed life.
RIP old friend.

Funeral arrangement: Thanks to Ben Smith I've been asked to send out a wide broadcast on Bill's wake and funeral. All activities will be near Clinton, MA (Worchester area) Wake, Monday 5 to 7 pm. Funeral Mass Tuesday 10am. Carlane is asking for any and all photos of Bill healthy doing what he loved. Send them to Carlanemattson@yahoo.com A slide show is being created. It would be very helpful of overseas people who have met Bill send photos to Carlane. Carlane also needs a head count by Saturday to pass onto Elena for planning. If you are coming send directly to her so that I am not a bottle neck. If you can bring your Land Rover. Under it's own steam, on a trailer, on a tow bar, etc...

I was at Ben's tonight and saw Quinton who is here for the weekend. He said there will be a large LR community there to support Bill's family and friends. People from all over the country and Canada are coming. Its good to see a turn out for Bill.

As Chris said, wake is Monday 5 to 7 pm. Funeral Mass Tuesday 10am
