Paris attack...

Puts all our petty bs in perspective...my friend is tour manager for this band and luckily I've just heard he is ok but witnessed some horrible stuff.. Prayers for everyone being held.

Meh! You can't live in fear. Eat, drink and have a great time. If you don't go the terrorist win. By June you can bet the hoards of unarmed police officers that fled the scene will be trained, armed and ready for the next time.

I can only imagine. My heart goes out to those people.

On October 30th we had another round of crazy storms around here and when I was at work my son text me that he had been evacuated to another school. A few minutes later my boss was telling us where the 'safest' place in the building is because a tornado was spotted across the highway...then our power goes out. My son text me again that a tornado was spotted by the HS just down the road from where he was. I ended up getting flooded in and couldn't get to him. It was the longest day of my life. It was like I had tunnel vision and my world got very small very fast. 'Got to get to him, got to get to him, got to get to him' going through my head. Then my neighbor calls to tell me my garage was flooded and maybe my house... I didn't care about that. I was soaking wet from 8am-8pm that day.

I know it's not the same thing, but putting things into perspective. Done and done.

And I agree with Dave. Do what you love.

The world is a dangerous place. Makes us appreciate our military and way of life even more. Our military is the greatest in the world and allows us to sleep at night. I second, do what you love, and don't let the tyrants and zealots of the world keep you from it because then they accomplish what they set out to do.

I travel a lot. I've been to the Middle East. I can tell you it's exhausting constantly being alert to your surroundings. Scanning for packages left unattended maybe even under cars. In the corner of a cafe. Looking at the way people are dressed and see if their body form is out of proportion.

I've always said though, if I'm going to be a victim, I want to be sitting on ground zero on the box with the ied. Go instantly hopefully. Not mangled on the sidewalk screaming in horror looking at my liver hanging out.

I have and always will view our service men and women as ultimate public servants. They act as human shields and put themselves in harms way to protect others willingly. To me they are angels on earth...always have been always will be. God bless and keep them.

What the fuck are you talking about? Unarmed and fleeing? French police, municipal and national are armed. The French armed forces I worked alongside were hard as nails and professional. Get your stereotypes together.

I was in Paris last June. Saw plenty of armed law enforcement and military throughout the city.

That's what I was thinking. But haven't the British started carrying ?
I thought I heard more recently that it was being considered. Or do they still think it won't ever happen to them?
