I was there in a OZ tent RV-4 at SCARR camped right next to Justin and we were both dry as a bone.

These tents are awesome.

Love my RV-5... I think its where jonesy got the idea from at Expo East last year. 2 Cots and a cat cage no problems.

At the latest URE the only issue we had with it was a kid close lining himself on the guy line and breaking the pole.

it has been perfect for me, and always dry and with a Mr heater you can get the thing up to sauna temps pretty fast.

I didn't know this until Overlander showed me at URE, but with the blue ground screwin stakes, you can run the guideline straight down, eliminating the garroting of the family!

yeah - those blue screws are the bomb! But only in sandy/loose soil - forget them in clay and hard pack

Yeah Robert, btw you, Justin & Erik and Dana I am sold. I ordered my RV5 with the deluxe peak sides and front from Erik. Cant wait to put all the new kit to work now!

The JV looks pretty cool. Are you guys using these in a "Base Camp" scenario?

Before pulling the trigger on a RV-5 is the fly sheet needed?

It looks cool, but it isn't practical unless you work for Willy Wonka. Tent portion is under 5' when erected.

It is basically an RV1 with a real nice porch.

I'm going to get a set of blue stakes... And do that exact thing..
In the rain fly it's something I don't have yet but haven't needed it either the tent itself is pretty waterproof

Erik and Justin talked me out of the JV mate. And after seeing it and looking past the nice screen room, it would be silly as you ALWAYS need to put the screen room up if you want to stand up anywhere!! So I got the RV5 with the deluxe peak sides and front.

Yeah, I was just thinking that it looked nice...none of this would work for my needs that's why I have the expedition trailer. unless it's unavoidable I'll never sleep on the ground again. I like being able to roll out in 20 minutes and be up and away from running surface water...oh yeah and critters...

We didn't use a fly sheet at SCARR, and I can't speak to it being needed or not.

Mr. Bill, for someone with a silo and two of everything, I'm surprised you did not call out the best reason to be off the ground.
