Our Defender Adventure Begins

Hello All!

After years of dreaming and searching, the wife and I finally pulled the trigger and got our first Defender. The most recent owner had bought the 90 at around 40k miles and put another 55k on it over the years. Much of its previous history is unknown to both of us, but we are the proud, sixth, and final (cross our fingers!) owners! Between adventures to Cabo San Lucas and the Moab Desert, from the California/Oregon coast up to the mountains of Canada, and back to its previous home in Cape Cod, our Defender was quite the traveler in its previous life. The wife and I hope to travel to many more corners of the world, previously unexplored by our new/old car. We have shifted our time spent on the internet from looking for our dream car, to researching how to travel across every continent on Earth!

We are currently Stationed in Groton, CT and SHOULD be getting stationed back in Bremerton, WA at the end of the year. This means our first cross country trip is right around the corner, and we will be testing both our Defender and our new marriage on the open (and off) road before we know it! This is our first time owning a vehicle like this, so we have a lot to learn. We are hoping to gain as much knowledge as we can from all of your experiences, and will begin to share our own as we overcome the obstacles that are sure to follow. We also hope to meet some fellow Land Rover junkies along the way, and welcome everyone to become a part of our Defender Adventure!!!!!

Chris & Rachael

Welcome. Unless already swapped out for SS lines, change those oil cooler lines.

If you find yourselves in the Wash DC area there's a great group that meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month. Keep in touch!

Welcome

There are a few rover owners around, some even stationed here. So finding a hand or two to help isn't usually a problem. Try to get to Ocean Beach for the Monday night car show. A couple of us can be found there most weeks.

Ironic isn't it?! After reading the thread about "jeep being the new Defender",recently, how is it many military personnel go for Defenders? Must be something there. Like more fun, more capable, things like that. Lol

I think the something is we enjoy difficulties....so Rover ownership is perfect!

Congrats to the OP, & good luck with your trip I once did Sierra Vista, AZ via San Francisco to Camp Lejeune in a regular cab taco with my girlfriend...it was a great trip for a host of reasons.

Thanks All,
When its time to trek over to the Best Coast we'll be sure to let everyone know the route. Yes another victim has risen, but we all know that getting in to this... The oil cooler lines have already been swapped as well as the the break lines. If anyone is going to be at Ocean Beach on monday I'll be sure to make it.
