Opinions on winter beater cars--saab 900

There is a saab 900 non-turbo for sale near me. 5-door, 1997, 150k, cloth interior, manual trans, fresh inspection stickers. Thinking about getting it as my winter beater car and daily driver to replace the LWB.

Thought or experiences?

Snow tires are $58 a pop from tirerack.

I had a Saab 900 as well but an older turbo one... man that was a great car. Winter it did real good up there Ron. Deep snow, not so well but there was very little other than that that I couldnt drive the thing in. Heater is outstanding in the one I had.

Speaking of, if anyone comes across a 4-door 900 with automatic in creampuff shape, please let me know. My wife is a saab lover and we've been looking for a solid summer car for her for a while.
