Opinion: Highest Concentration of NAS Defender(s) / Owners Geographically?

Aside from IPSC_Guy's driveway , ECR's lot, Copley and other dealers, Land Rover events, where do you think the highest concentration of NAS Defender owners and/or NAS Defenders are located? Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard (?), NYC, Hoboken, particular city in VA, LA, Salt Lake City, Boulder, etc.? Couldn't think of anywhere else really that has a highly concentrated population who also own Defenders.

About two nights ago - after seeing a Defender 90 parked in a glass-clad private garage a few blocks from my place (I had never driven by there before) - I got to thinking about whether my little Hoboken, NJ (which is apparently a mile square) could potentially be the highest concentration for NAS Defenders/Defender owners. As of now, I know of 8-9 (including mine) Defenders within the 14 or so blocks of Hoboken. This is based on seeing the same Defenders multiple times over a few months, talking to owners when I see them (but not counting the Defenders/owners they've met), and at least two board members who have PM'd me saying they live in Hoboken and keep their Defender there at least part of the time.

NYC-wise, I can think of probably 8-10 (but not all NAS) Defender / owners if I count West Village (even seen a 110 ST a few times!) around NYU, SOHO, TriBeCa, East Village, but that geographical area is larger than Hoboken.

Thoughts? Opinions? Just thought it would be fun to see other really high concentrations.

I forget when I did this but I think it's been a while now, but I took reported location in D-90 source members profiles and created this map showing them. It's not entirely accurate in that many people use BS locations, but it's probably a decent indicator.

Oh I should add this is only reflecting d-90 source members, not actual owners of course.

Yeah, I remember that little study...it was fun. I thought you actually based it on IP address at the time though?

This is an interesting topic. I was wondering the same myself. I have seen a few defenders, and even more series, in old town alexandria (VA). Ive seen 3 or 4 defenders around Northern VA/DC area (white st, blue st, green st, ) and they are ones that I (edit) do not recognize as board members.

Per capita NOVA (esp Alexandria, VA) is pretty high. I see them all the time here.

Yeah, but if we count all of NYC - 5 Boroughs, there are a WHOLE lot (probably for the win), but you're crossing God knows how many bridges, etc.

I was kind of wondering if we drilled into a more walking-distance-friendly area smaller than that, where would the highest concentration be?

Before Galpin sold Janey there was a really high concentration in his garage/driveway...assuming we count the Series and trailer!

There are definitely a lot of Rovers in the NOVA area but I don't know that we could count more than a half dozen or so within any given city limits

LA has alot of them. Not sure if its the highest concentration but it must be close. They are everywhere. I see at least 3 or 4 a day and that doesnt include the half dozen members that have them. Not to mention the 3 or 4 that Four Oaks and British Car Service seem to have in for service at any given time.

I would have to say there is quite a few in North Jersey. I have seen a bunch of 90's and 2 Different NAS 110's in the past few months... In addition to the NAS trucks there is quite a few ROW stuff out there..

I'd have to say the Marthas Vineyard/Nantucket islands ... thats where most of ECR's goes it seems... from what I've heard they are flooded with rusting or soon-to-be rusting rovers there.

No, a geo lookup based on the location you put in your profile, so things like "under my truck" fail, but yours interestingly enough returns a location (40.7444531/-74.0290007).

I just updated it from the current data.

I keep hearing about other Navy and USMC guys in the VA Beach/Norfolk/Hampton Roads area with Ds, but I've only seen four other D90s, two D110s, and a couple of random Series trucks.

According to one of my fellow squadron pilots, I just need to keep buying them and we'll soon have the high concentration within a few miles of NAVSTA/NAS Norfolk.

My town and the one right next door, has a decent number of them. I know of 3 ECR tuned ones alone. A quick mental list of the 90's and 110's I've seen driving around would put the number in the 15 or so range. Could be in the 20's. FWIW, our town has about 10k people the other town has 6k people. Sadly with all of them around, I think mine is the only one that has seen a dirt trail in it's life.

But biggest concentration must be Nan. When I was there last summer, I saw Series and Defenders all over the place.

Hoboken is small so based on size you could be in for the win. I mean LA has so many but it is a big city. I would think you go where there is money and you see plenty of them. NY, LA, Nantuket, Aspen, etc. You might be splitting hairs with who has the most. I bet summer time on the vineyard has so damn many.

I honestly don't remember seeing even one in Hoboken or NYC. I left in 2001 but I just remember seeing them in Bergen County not in the city.

You should hit up MA Ron when you go and see if he is running any trails. Would be a good stop on the way thru MA to Nantucket.

Heard it is a PITA to bring a vehicle over - do you already have the ferry booked?
