Quote of the year. Kudos to everyone for helping Kent.

I may have some stuff laying around that I could contribute.

Hopefully you did not leave your tools in the D110. You will need them with a British military "recon" unit
FWIW, DrAaron has been in touch with me, and has offered parts toward a build as well as his shop to do the actual build.

Thats good news. Maybe some left overs can find their way to your truck from their shop and you can seek out some help when needed. Having a place to work on the D110 is a real help.

Will see what I can find out today about the RHD unit from Sandwich Rover.

Thanks Rugbier for putting him in touch with the firm you feel has direct knowledge of his situation. Lets see what happens.

Tools are not a problem. I guess as long as it's not a rust box, anything can be fixed, right?

Why don't you worry about yourself and your online reputation instead of wasting your time posting here. Nobody gives a crap abut what you have to say.

I thought you said you were going to STFU concerning this. So STFU then. Moderators, enough with this toxic POS or are you waiting for him to cause harm to yet more members?

No rust bucket with that one...after chatting with Chris it seems to be in awesome shape. Jim(Pendy) will be sending/posting pictures of it shortly I am sure.

Importer (Chris) seems like a nice bloke, for a pom - and had real good things to say about it.

I'm mainly a loiterer here. I don't participate or offer input because I'm not a Defender owner. But I do like reading the threads and I've been monitoring this one for quite some time.
I decided to come out of the shadows to offer a suggestion.
Has anyone heard of an activist website called change.org ? It is a petition site that people use to influence outcomes of situations.
If someone with excellent grammatical writing skills and high knowledge of the situation draft something up and submit it, you might acquire enough signatures to wake someone up to look into it and make some progress in the case.

It sounds like we should continue to attack this on two fronts.

1. The legal /lawyer path to try get his truck and or parts back
2. A replacement truck.

Isn't Aaron's place too far away to do any lengthy amount of work? I have too much going on here to offer build space but could possibly hoard parts.

I think you should list your dream truck requirements. Don't hold back as we can always scale it down but we need to know the goal.

That's encouraging, but it would be prudent for you to know when the statute of limitations will run so that any potential claims aren't waived based solely on those good intentions.

Trying to recover evidence seized in the course of a criminal investigation is probably not a good use of resources. About all that can be done is to find out who is in charge of the case at the AG's office, introduce yourself and your interest in the case, and politely ask if it is ok to periodically inquire as to the status of the investigation and when you might get your truck back.

That doesn't take any legal training. All a lawyer could do is to make the feds "show cause" that your vehicle has evidentiary value. Assuming it does, it's unlikely you'll get it back until the investigation has been concluded, charges filed, disposition reached, and all appellate opportunities exhausted. Yes, that could take years, and at the end of it, they still might not give it back if they determine it was illegally imported.

What happened here really was an injustice to you, hopefully the case will be resolved soon and at least you'll get an answer as to whether you'll get the truck back or not.

Charles,

I thought Aaron offering the services of his shop was beneficial for two reasons: 1. If a truck is purchased overseas, it can be shipped directly to the Wilmington port, and then 2. Any donated parts can be shipped to his shop where his mechanics will do all the work it might need.

I know that eliminates the opportunity for me or any fellow Roverheads in this area (NoVa) to do some wrenching, but having a full-time shop do the work will speed the process of getting a well sorted truck to me (which I obviously wouldn't complain about). If anyone thinks thats a bad idea for whatever reason, let me know.

If you want my dream truck specs, I will gladly write up a description of my 110 and the few additional mods that I was still planning to have done so you guys can get a good idea. I think Ill spend a little time doing a write up with pictures on my registry. Ill keep you posted.

Kent

I wouldn't trust werewolf to mail an envelope. That's a non-starter as far as I'm concerned.
