To be honest I don not know where the mud pit is. Have heard of it before, but never had the inclination to look for it.

Sig Sauer?

Thanks Jimmy

Those rifles are not really my cup of tea. Mighty good specs on that Sig though.

Jeff, not sure why you think this is premature - it's way late!

The truck is ready for transport and we have the funds at 1300, assuming not too much in taxes. We will likely need more along the way and jonesy is still on the hook for way too much but we will get it done one way or another.

Thanks everyone for your support and offers of additional funds, and a big thanks to Dave for helping out while on vacation.

Yes !!!

Big thanks to Dave and Greg for their efforts as of late.

I can maybe add some more funds to the effort if it is needed for transportation costs. Do we still just send money to the paypal set up for Kent?

Can you post that information here again at the end of the thread ?

Thanks

Ok the tall ambulance roof is looking like it's going to be an issue for the cost if the shipping. Does anyone remotely near LA want to swap a regular top for an ambulance top? Or a pickup cab top?

Or a full soft top which is the end goal. So if anyone wants to donate one and go help install it ...

If someone was willing to go over and build a crate out of plywood to put all the parts in, then removing the top and leaving it behind would be a option.

The original plan for my truck was to replace the hard top with a soft top I had purchased anyways, so could that actually work? The front area would be exposed, but thats not a huge concern, right? I suppose the only issue would be with the rear door...

I have an extra roof I could put on while it is being shipped. Could try to meet the shipper in route.

Seems like I sold some parts to someone in Palm Springs that may have some left over MOD parts like a roof top. A member here at D90

------ Follow up post added July 10th, 2014 05:57 PM ------

Just some 2x4's and rachet straps could get the job done.

Put the roof upside down

Strap to front bumper / frame and tub

Or ditch the roof , cut rear door in half and some tarp strapped to protect the cargo

I hadn't thought about the rear door - if you took of the roof sides, that would need to come off too!

I was thinking to just build a crate in the rear to secure everything and keep them dry, but the rear door would need to be addressed or a higher caliber "roof" constructed.

But the real issue is just the same issue we have had all along - manpower. All of these solutions require some manpower.

To put this in to perspective, check out this picture with the roof on:

I don't think you could invert that and put it in place without issues.

Series roofs have the wrong roofline at the windshield.

Thanks yet again for the offer Brian, but yes too far.

And thanks too Jim, but I think that would be a logistical nightmare.

Anyone got any better ideas? Enclosed transport would add another $500 or so for shipping. In fact with the roof, it's going to cost another $500 or more because they can't put another vehicle above/below it. So the roof has to go, and we need to cover it or ship enclosed.

Greg, what are the chances of getting a day laborer over to make you a roof? A few sheets of plywood, some 2x4's to add stiffness, and a few well placed holes to bolt it all down with at the original bolting points and you'd have a flat roof. Maybe make you a crate in the rear for the parts as well (the shippers still don't want loose stuff in the back). Gets rid of the timing issue of getting it out of the garage and the roof on before the shipper comes. It shouldn't require skilled labor.
