Charles I can not really say anything more then I posted about the D110 in TX. Buyrovers put up a link and it was at a price point that seemed affordable for the effort. So I called on it for us, about the same time Craig checked on it also. Sandwich Rovers 'Chris" contacted me with the information I posted here already. It is rather far from my location so I really can not go to inspect it at this time. Maybe another member could take a look if it is in the running? But I would make time to fetch it and get it towards where it needs to go if we decide to buy this for Kent.

You can put me down for 300.00 and if it comes down to needing more money will see what I can do. As I said earlier I may have parts that could help the project as well.

Thanks for getting this moving along Charles.

No strings attached from me either.

At the same time, I understand the reservations some of you have about Aaron doing the work, but would the truck really be at risk of confiscation just because its on his shop property, even though someone else imported it completely legally? Im open to more discussion about this.
Who imported your truck in the first place? From what I have seen, CBP really did not care. They would rather take and then figure it out later.

Jarrod let's keep this thread focused on getting commitments for funds or help. We can worry about the rest if and only if this looks feasible. We are at $4900 - are you in?

I will go ahead and throw $300 into the fund. I think its only fair that I got in on this action too.

Also, I have a lovely new NAS-style rear step bumper that CDeWan fabricated for my incarcerated truck (never installed ) that I can put on this new truck.

Kent

P.S. No strings attached here. Did I need to even say that?

Awesome, thanks Raub.

We are are $6200, $5500 without strings or dependencies.

Some of you have mentioned you are willing to contribute, but if you haven't stated a specific amount either here it in PM it's not counted.

We are looking like we could pull this off but we need more, and I'd live to be able to reduce Jonseys contribution.

HAHA....me too!

Come on guys...if we get 30 blokes to contribute $300 that would do it!!

Let's 'git er done!

Charles - maybe you could detail the contingencies for the contributions...that way as a group we can negate them, or accept them?

Oh yea, I almost forgot, no strings for me. Also Dave Lucas gave me such a great deal on the motor and bits as well as Doug Crowther is helping me install it thus bringing it in under budget, so those guys deserve thanks as well.

Thanks to everyone who has offered to help with this. We have made good progress (at $6300) but am honestly a bit surprised some of those who chimed in earlier haven't committed to a dollar amount. If there is a reason for this please speak up (in private if you prefer).

Regardless I think we are close to being able to make this work and I'd like input from the money types on the pros/cons and legal/tax ramifications of people donating directly to Kent or setting up some sort of entity. I genuinely think we should keep it simple but don't want to get Kent into any worse of a mess that he already is. Andrey/Keith/Goose, can you chime in or PM/email me?

Kent and I are going to meet for lunch tomorrow and discuss his options. I finally got the time to look at his registry and re-read Greg's posts about his truck and it looks to be a clear leader in terms of value for only $1000 more than Johan's except it needs a fair amount of labor and probably a few grand more in parts to make it a soft top and closer to his dream specs. It has a newish drivetrain, new tires and suspension and various other goodies. Will need doors, hoopset/canvas, roll cage, sliders to complete his dream setup (linex and LED lighting on stretch goal).

So unless things change, the current combinations and permutations include

1. Greg's truck.
1A. West coasters have a wrenching session and install the motor (and maybe fuel tank) and whatever else is needed to make it roadworthy and we have an epic road trip. We can track them and blog about it and have a little fun with it. Maybe Moab on the way ala Janey.
1B. Ship directly to Aaron's
1C. Ship directly to NOVA and we wrench.

2. Johan's truck
2A. Shipped directly to Aaron's
2B. Shipped to NOVA

I could make a poll if these seem to be the right options (feel free to suggest others).

Kent or I will update you tomorrow after we discuss this, but it would be great if we could get some more commitments before then to feel confident this is going to work. Even if we get parts donated we are still going to need another $2k more than has ben committed (at least) and keep in mind Jonsey is footing half the bill already!

Count me in for $200, no strings attached. I'll leave the decision on the best option(s) up to those willing to do the leg work.

If Aaron is doing the work bring it by here and I'll do a nice rear cage for the 110 st if you want?? I'm only a couple hours from Aaron, I could possibly even pick it up.

Ok so I was waiting to see where we are going with this and it looks like it's really going to happen. I have a few things leftover from my rebuild that I can donate.

1. I think Kent's registry mentioned a Tuffy Console. I have one I was saving but I can donate that. It is the wide version with the lockable stereo slot.

2. If we are going with one of the MOD truck he will need a new front bumper (one was bent if I recall). I have a military front bumper that has the center pin with a winch plate on it for a Warn winch. You can take the winch plate/A-bar off and have just a regular military bumper. The only issue is getting it to Kent. If there is a RURR from Orlando to NOVA that would be perfect.

3. I also have one of these grill. Brand new

Kent it is up to you, you can have these or I can set up an auction here and you can have all the proceeds from the sale. Just let me know. Here is the bumper, sorry winch not included.

Sorry I was MIA last week - I was in the middle of the jungle with no cell, no wifi. Nice sun burn and about a million mosquito bites though!

As I said before I have a bunch of parts if those are needed, but also can pledge some cash to get to the goal. What's the current goal/pledge?

We are at the point that we have proven that the money can be raised to purchase the truck. We are just shy of the actual purchase price but have lots of offers for parts so assuming we can sell things he doesn't need, we have exceeded the purchase price. Depending on how it moves forward I suspect another grand or two will be needed.

But we now need to actually do it. I could use your help determining the best path forward regarding taking the donations. I personally would like to keep it as simple as possible and get it in Kent's name. But we need to understand the ramifications whatever way it goes. If we get Greg's truck it sounds like he'd be the perfect candidate to pay it forward to once Kent gets his back btw.

Let's PM with Kent to talk about it or if it's easier get on the phone. I have to teach a course all day today but I'm pretty flexible tomorrow. If phone is easier let me know a couple of times that work for you and Kent please chime in as well.
