Operation "85Red110's Truck" Phase 2: The Build

Fellow DefenderSource Members,

My excitement is palpable, but first I must start this thread with some very sincere words.

I am truly humbled and grateful for every word and act of kindness and generosity, as well as advice, uttered/shown by the members of this forum since the day I joined. Your efforts have manifested in the form of the beautiful Land Rover 110 you see in the pictures below. Not trying to get all sentimental and mushy, but I consider this new truck to be a symbol for our community and I will drive it with pride to absolutely every Rover event I can make it to so I can share it with as many of you as possible.

This new thread will document as much of the build as possible, so I encourage anyone involved with this truck in any way to post pictures and info if they have it (including you, Greg, aka gchinsr). And in case anyone was wondering, Greg is the gentleman who sold us this truck at a ridiculously discounted price, and without his offer we would not be where we are today. Thank you Greg.

Special thanks also go out to Charles Galpin (cgalpin) for taking control and orchestrating nearly every move of this effort. Thank you, Charles. Charles has also provided his home/garage space for us to work on the truck. For that, I would like to thank Mrs. Galpin

There are many others I need to thank, and will hopefully get to do so in person eventually. You know who you are, thank you very much.

Now, for the fun part.

What do you think about this cage? Trying to figure it out! Also I got a care package from Dave down at Urban Land Cruisers for you and we got everything we need for the top!

Brewie that looks great! Would you call it more of a "top" than a cage (or roll cage)?

That's not mine, we are just trying to find a few images for his cage. Kent doesn't want a front Exo cage but does want something a little cooler in the back end.

Can you buy an off the shelf surrey top - or full canvas if the hoops are that wide?
