It's as convenient as it's the first rover event up, and it needs to get out of my garage. I can refer you to Donna if you'd like any further discussion on this topic :D

Put some labor in on Labor Day. Charles and I, with the tremendous help of my younger brother, Steve, who came all the way from Parris Island to help wrench, got a few key things done today.

1. Fuel tank and skid installed with .... surgical, um yea ... surgical precision. Just need sender wired up, filler neck installed, and fuel lines connected.
2. Throttle and choke cables connected.
3. One rear brake assembly cleaned, greased, and assembled. Will need a new wheel cylinder for other side.

Pretty good for 2 expert mechanics and a gopher (me) in only a few hours.

With any luck, we should receive more parts from Lucky8 and Safari HP this week, and be able to make boatloads of progress this saturday.

Conclave is not a pipe dream quite yet...

Kent

Ready to be mounted on those beautiful axles. Just need some new suspension and brake bits first....

Wrenching party at Galpins tomorrow morning at 7 a.m.

If I promise coffee and donuts will we get a good turnout?

Rausch will be there the following weekend!

I have a hard stop of 4pm, so please come early if you can. Any takers?

If you haven't been paying attention, Jonesy wanted the same tire and rim combo Kent had, and Kent wanted to go a little bigger so they swapped.

We looked at the caliper binding issue with fresh eyes, and fond the only difference was that the older hubs have "pads" where the wheel studs mount, and the newer defender/RRC with vented disk brakes don't. That's the only reason we had binding and since LR felt the hubs were strong enough without the pads, we don't see any harm in grinding the corders off the pads. So brakes sorted, thanks Lucky Eight!

SafariHP drop shipped some poly bushes from floflex so we were able to clean off unwanted por15 from the bush surfaces and get them installed (and press in the a-arm ball joint) and get the axles under the truck. Without other parts and missing a few bolts we called it a day.

We made a good amount of progress for 2 people, although we are still at risk of not getting this thing running my conclave. Next session is going to be next Sunday. If we have the parts we need, we should be able to do it if we get some help. I know everyone is probably getting their own truck ready, but if you could spare the time we'd really appreciate it.

Time lapse of the day

You'll see someone panned the camera at some point so I know someone was watching. Also note we had a visit from fireman short. Thanks for the picture Dave - I didn't take any all day.

Lol, I just saws the infidel treatment of the video. Too funny.

Jeff, pics. Did not take a picture before grinding - maybe Kent did.

Parts are starting to come in (thanks lucky eight) and expect more from safariHP later in the week.

I'm going to try put some time into the truck on Wednesday evening to increase our chances of getting it drive able on Sunday. If anyone can lend a hand, let me know.
