One person can remove a bulkhead.

Yay!!!!

Its off (along with the 40 miles of wire attached to it).

I disconnected the AC thinking it was empty (it was not). Other than that and forgetting the ground on the back of the motor on the driver's side head, there was no snags. It has been a few years since I pulled all the wires off a 14CUX motor, but it all came back quick enough.

Who decided to use screws to hold the bulkhead to the bracket on the frame. I had to drill 3 of 4 out. I need a drill doctors as now all my bits are dull. Needless to say, they will be bolts when it goes back together (currently scheduled for completion in 2017).

Now to get my new bulkhead back from JimC (galvanized!) and modify it to fit the NAS 110 junk I have and transfer it all over (that will be a job and a half).

I think I am going to skip the air cleaner mounts for now and run something simple with a cone on the end of the MAF and get a raised air intake later.

Ron

PS The rusty hulk will be available for sale soon if someone is interested. Much better than most of the series bulkheads I have seen so it is salvagable. Not sure what it would look like once it came back from the sand blasters, but the feet are sold. Rust on the top and needs some footwell work.

Made it further than half of the other guys, but the Hammers won.

Probably about 150lbs with all the crap on it. 50lbs stripped sounds right, but I am not there yet (I would say that is right for the new one I sent with JimC).

I am going to bolt the opening style on but make them solid so I can run the 1993 heater vent stuff.

I think I remember my Series IIA bulkhead weighing around 78 lbs when completly stripped down. I had the paint removed from it chemically and they charged by the pound.

Series bulkheads seem slightly heavier because of the metal dash.

Yeah but most of them have been lightened by the tinworm.....

not mine though, I have one of the very rare non-rusty original 1967 bulkheads.

I am also told that the earlier bulkeads were of a thicker gauge of steel. A look at my SII bulkhead v. the SIII bulkhead seems to bear that out.
