One in a million: Twig through the dash vents...

Just had to share this one, as it seemed really amusing to me. Driving along on the highway, normal speed, and I had a truck merge in front of me when he came in from the service road. Didn't cut me off, but did kick up a small twig.

Oddly enough, I saw this little piece of stick get airborne and start flying toward my windshield. Next thing I know, I hear some clattering noise, and feel something hit my leg. I reach down, and find a piece of a stick in my lap. Somehow, this stick managed to come through the barely open dash vent, into the passenger compartment, and gently land on my lap.

Wierd, and I just felt like sharing. Anybody else ever have this happen?

Leaves come through all the time. Other than that and dust, no panties or twigs.

thats not one in a million, that has happened to me three seperate times in my life while i was in a car...

this is a jeep story, but one time we where wheeling, and a horse fly got into the car, well it landed on the windshield for a second and i wacked it with my leather winch glove, not hard or anything but it cracked my windshield really bad, 3 spider legs across the length and width immediately!
I had done it before and since no problem, it was just that time the jeep was flexed weird or something and crack

Hmmm, not via the vents but the Sunroof. I was driving out in the sticks and approached this "cloud" of insects which just happen to swarm across the road as I passed. Most of them hit the windshield but quite a few got pulled through the opening of the sunroof. I quickly found out that they were hornets. It must have looked like the scene in Tommy Boy becasue I slammed on the brakes and pulled over and left the D90 as quickly as possible. They got a couple licks in, but it wasn't too bad.

Sticks land in my 90 all the time, but then again I am driving down a tight path with no top Nothing through the vent, but allot with no top on I would never notice.

A friend of mine was driving his Series IIA years ago with the vents open (no screens) and his well endowed girlfriend in the passenger seat with a low cut blouse on. A June bug (real big bug for those of you not from the South) came sailing through the rihght vent, thwacked her in the upper chest and fell down inside her bra. Much screaming and thrashing about quickly followed along with a lot of entertaing attempts to remove the only slightly stunned June bug from the underwear......

He almost wrecked the truck several times

Got a bucketfull of water through the vents when I hit some deep water a little too fast. Don't remember if the vents were open or closed but it probably wouldn't have mattered. It was before I installed series vent seals.

I've had a couple of bees come through the vents and land in my lap -- and they were none too happy about it. All things considered, I think I'd rather have the twigs.

Well, 2nd time wasn't quite as amusing...... it was a big rock, and it didn't go in the dash vent. But I can point out exactly where it hit my windshield. Just look for were all the cracks meet up.

I had an important business meeting years ago and was very, very hung over. I stopped off at 7-11 and got a super big gulp on a hot San Francisco day. I set down the drink on the top of the car as I fumbled with my keys and some food. I got into the car, and started to drive away when, through the open sunroof, the big gulp landed in my lap exploding over my suit and tie. Crap. I rushed home at 100mph to quickly put on another suit. I ran back to the car and jumped in...onto the very wet leather seat that I forgot to dry first completely soaking my ass. I picked up my cell phone, called in very, very sick to work, canceled the meeting, went inside the house, dead bolted the door put a movie in the vcr and laid down figuring it was the safest thing I could do.

You are right that it was not the D90--it was my Acura (at the time). That said, I can easily get my D90 over 100 as I have done going to Moab but you want to drive very, very straight! I rechipped my ecu when I put in the 4.6 and it did away with the speed governor.

Well. considering that it's parked outside with only a surrey top
I did had a couple of gecko's and tree frogs make themselves at home
in those went/shoots and jump in my lap while going 55 mph down the
road... I am sure you can imagine the look on my face
