Once you go black ......

There's no going back... Customer calls the other say wanting a defender90 for his Nantucket house.. But wants something custom painted.. So he comes in and a deal is done on my 1997 defender 90 SW.. As much as I hate to do this to a white 97 SW... It will look pretty cool when done.

Black is a career choice

I will never own a black vehicle. Way to hard to keep looking nice, and getting there with body prep and paint is exhaustive. It does look good, just to much shows.

I guess if one has a truck built for their Nantucket home, he may have people to clean and wax it for him.

Cant hear Nantucket without the old limerick coming to mind. So I updated.

That's some funny sheite....
We are just blacking out the engine bay, I think the colour combination is going to be Zambezi silver lower section and stornway or bonatti upper...

It has the same appeal as a Chrysler 300 in two tone paint.

And rollers have sweeping lines. Point was a two tone tractor is kind of like lipstick on a pig. Client is always right, and I'm dealing with similar requests from a Nantucket resident. That said I'm not advocating his choices.

The only 2-tone Defender combo should have galvy as one of the "colors". Must be some new money Nantucket house owners.

I could launch into a diatribe about 20" wheels and 2-tone paint on Defenders, but I'm gonna do my very best to hold back my opinion, but let's just say, Doug hit the nail on the head.

just buy a G-wagen dude!

I guess it's the heritage edition scheme that sold out in very short time..??,,!!!

------ Follow up post added March 13th, 2015 09:52 AM ------

We've got a white 90 that I have been doing a lot of stuff to, it has different colour flares and grill etc with matching roof, while not a true two tone it really does look neat... I'll be posting pics and write up when I get the performance mods sorted... All I can say is, this thing is wicked nice and very quick for a defender...and we are about to do something really cool and secret... Will update soon.. Now, back to the "heritage"... As I mentioned, I cringe at doing this but,,agree, customer is right..I actually think it's gonna turn out pretty cool, not going with the bigger wheels, just painting the originals..

Uh, didn't they come two tone from the factory? I seem to recall combos such as bronze green and limestone...
