On-line travel booking?

Hey gang, any recommendation of online airline booking sites? I have to head to the West Coast mid-Oct. and was going to use Expedia but a co-worker had a real horror story with them from their experiance of using them. Granted it's only one story but I figured I would ask who have you used and found to be dependible.

I used Travelocity to get my tickets for the National Rally, they were the cheapest, I got my tickets but I have only used them once.
