oh that hurts!!

i went to drop BeastLee off for a checkup today and saw this photo at the repair shop (go Biggs Eastside!). I then got the email newsletter and here is the story that went with the pic....
Poor Jim. I'm just glad he is ok.

"This beautiful Defender 90 belongs to Jim Green. I've known Jim since he purchased this vehicle brand new in 1996. Jim has traveled the country as an avid outdoorsman, off roader and photographer. The vehicle is just about to hit 200,000 miles, but as you can see, it will not be getting that chance.

Jim was at a stop when a gravel truck came around the corner and hit the defender in the rear while doing approximately 50 MPH. The defender was then shot across the road and into a tree. Jim survived with just a cracked shoulder blade! You can see how the external roll cage did it's job.

Over the years, I have gotten to know several people that have been in serious accidents in their Land Rover. After surviving the accident and seeing how their Land Rover had protected them, they will not drive anything else. Jim has already replaced the Defender with another one just like it. Truly a testament to the safety engineering done by Land Rover!"

A 50 MPH hit by a gravel truck?! That is a serious hit and I am surprised by the shape of the 90 from such a collision. Good to hear that result. Hope Jim is doing well with his shoulder.
