obscure accessories for D90

My first D90 was a 1995 I bought from the original owner, a heart surgeon from Austin. It was largely stock (including factory radio) and had the original bill of sale, dealership service records, etc. Also, it had these unusual and hard to find accessories: a center console rain cover and zip bags for the Besttop side windows (see pictures). Also included was a Camel Trophy commemorative book the dealer threw in at time of original sale. (kept book when I sold the D90)

My current 1994 D90 has a rear heater which may be factory because it fits in perfectly into the side of the truck bed, matching the contours of the side panels, and also it has coolant hoses running into it

Anyone else know of any obscure factory accessories? Especially you original owners out there . . .

I still have everything that came with my '94. The end caps with Rover logo that plug the cage when the rear is removed. Also the factory wheel chalks. It's funny, I still remember the new car smell. Yes, they had one!

Yep, I'm the original owner of my '95 NAS D90. The center console rain cover is the only thing out of the 3 you mentioned that we got. Love that thing.

Since Burke mentioned new car smell, I actually remember the first time I ever saw the D90 in the showroom at Schneider and Nelson in NJ in the summer of 1995 . . .we were actually there looking at the Range Rover when I wandered off and saw it. My reaction was, 'Woah. WTF is THAT?!", looked inside and then said, 'Um, there's nothing in it'.
Our salesman, Jerry Brown, took me for a test drive and we're on normal roads when out of nowhere he turns right into a curb and into some bushes...and all of sudden we're off-roading (and actual dirt/mud/steeps, not the man made course they have now have at LR dealerships to show you hill descent). Best sales pitch ever.

Nice! I'm actually enjoying this vicarious "brand-new D90" experience. Ah, to be that lucky person to peel that dealer sticker off the window (even back then there was a waiting list, I think). Closest I got was driving a used 1997 NAS D90 in 1999 at a LR dealership.

Anyway, picture of my 94 D90 rear heater. Note how it follows the shape of the side body panels. Has a heater core and blower inside.

Ive got a small green cordura and leather duffel bag with "DEFENDER 90" printed all over the cordura. Came with the truck in 94. Perfect weekend bag. HD zippers..

Anyone out there have any "driving a brand new 110 off the showroom floor in 1993" experiences?

The D90s in 94 and 95 were slow movers. In 97, they sold much better.

The one accessory I have never seen but know exists (as it is in the brochure which I have *somewhere*) is the roofrack for the 94s that mounts to the C pillar on the cage.

Rare stuff includes the factory sheepskin seat covers and the tickford surray top.

I have the cubby cover. I really like it.

I would like to see a picture of the rear heater too.

I looked at a new LE 90 at Parsippany in 97, but didnt want to spend that much at the time. Wish I would have now.

I have a "Land Rover Parts" D-90 cap, it has D90 on the front and Land Rover on the back. I think Ive seen Scott Wold wearing one. Ive never seen another one, I only wear it on special occasions.

I've only ever seen two of these, so I bought the second one. A soft top rear door card with pocket.

My first 90, #96 from 1994, had a factory aux. heater in the passenger side seat box compartment. The vent for the heater came out behind the passenger seat. I never used it though.

That heater is very shall we say, JC Whitney, except for the fact that it follows the contour.

better pics of heater

JC Whitney . . . True.

Funny, I was thinking the other day the general interior aesthetics of these D90's are pretty utilitarian and crude, pretty dull compared to the bright and cheerful plastics of a current JK Wrangler (for comparison)

I know the area you are talking about. It was across from the DMV across 36. Back in the day dirt bikers and bmx'ers use to have all kinds of fun till they put that housing back there and then the other dealerships closed off the area and now the bmw dealership expanded back there and put in a service road. All gone now
