Now Seeing ads with new site ownership

Is anyone else now seeing ad's? I thought this was a permanent thing when the site transferred ownership a few years ago (that older members will not see ads).

I see that the site has transferred ownership again, so is there a timeline on when they will turn the ads off for longstanding members again?

Yes, I see ads across the top that are subtle and look like part of the site. IMO that's worse than the giant obvious advertisements.

Agreed, but no ads was part of what made this site so great. "Make D90 Source Great Again"

Ads aside, I guarantee that at least one of these guys will tell us for a few minutes that they are thinking about buying a Defender.

I am now getting ads for "ChineseLadydate.com" and Bently motorcars. Can't afford either one.

I'm not running an ad blocker and I'm not seeing any ads.

These are the same guys that bought another forum I'm very familiar with two years ago and I've got to say they've shored up a neglected infrastructure and increased platform stability.

Most ads today are targeted; based on your search & browsing history.
So, do you know where your browser went today?

I mentioned this in the other thread but it didn't get traction:

If you guys want to form a non-profit organization and raise the money to buy Defender Source from Vertical Scope, I will host it on the Discoweb servers and take care of the back-end portion of the site administration. The "Site Team" would be left in place as-is and the moderation style of the site would be dictated by the non-profit committee. If this was done, I would assist in removing all banner ads and other monetization plugins that the post-CvC owners have added. Defender Source would get lightning-fast hosting like Discoweb, plus HTTP/2 and SSL to speed things up and keep things away from content-blocking proxies.

I don't know how much money it would take to make this happen but I volunteer my help on the server side if you guys want to lead this.

Chris

Not that one. The owner of that project sold out to ad companies. Now they replace some ads with others that pay to override the blocks.

A better plugin these days is Ublock Origin.

Also, ad blockers won't stop the monetization of your personal data by site owners.

This is the phone, not the Note. It might not even be called the galaxy. Despite having technology skills with very large hardware and aircraft, I know absolutely nothing about phones and just let the guy at Verizon give me what they had in the store that he owns.
