I'll make it. Not sure what time-probably around 11 and I'll need to leave late afternoon.

Exhaust work? no, I am terrible at welding. but I can bring my new Lincoln setup and let you practice!

why do you need to weld it? what happened? usually if you need welding it means there is nothing left to weld...

I think he has a crack in it.

Tyler, I can make time - I have to weld my diff cover on anyway so I'll have all the gear out. Depending on where it is, you might have to drop the exhaust first though.

Yeah there's a crack at the joint. Some point this week I'll find it and see what kind of access issues there are.

F**k I would love to join, it would be a welcome change to work on old school again, regain that challenge of pulling an old part, or customize something and not need a computer for diagnostics.
the worst part about it... I have a migthy mig 110 mig welder and a portable set of acetylene/oxy
torches. the mig runs on 110 with gas and it does an excellent job and know how to and have done your plans many many times at other shops and at home. ( weld and diff set as well as locker install)
quite frigging unfurtunate, I am working (rosenthal tysons) this weekend plus family coming over to my apt. in annandale for easter, all my welding stuff is in catlett ,va.
I dont know what Im doing on the 29th, I am off but Ihave about 4 projects on hold at my inlaws farm so Iam sure my beloved wife will be persuading (for lack of better words) me to work on those projects.
if I can be of assistance let me know, email or call
703-786-2920/carlosz@cox.net
I will be at the shop from 8 to about 4 on saturday.

Dang, probably our one shot at having someone who knows what they are doing show up. We'll be ok - I'll pretend to know what I'm doing

Carlos, I appreciate the offer, and if we have any questions with the diff rebuild, I'll definitely call! Hope to meet you at a happy hour sometime.

I don't have the gas set for my welder but it does fine with flux cored wire. Certainly good enough for Tyler's imaginary D90's exhaust

Come on now Charles, I may still show up! If you have a compressor, I can bring the plasma cutter if anyone needs it, and I can bring the Millermatic 220 if anyone has any serious welding they need to do. I can bring the Argon/CO2 setup too.

I need to install my steering guard and fabricate a windshield channel for my safari top!

LOL. Ok, so two of us can pretend we know what were doing Joking of course. Please do come by.

If you want to bring all your gear, I'd have no objection. I want to make sure my diff welds are as good as they can be so if you have yours there I might borrow it for that (I have 220v at the dryer). I'm not going to have time to work on anything else but I do have a seemingly endless list of welding tasks for the trucks. Some day...

Hey, I need a windshield channel for Janey too, so I'd love to see what plan you have there.

Charles,
Go ahead and PM me your address. The wife tells me I need to get out and play, but rain may keep me away - I have the top off the D90.

As for the windshield channel, I plan on using some flat bar and angle to make something similar to the aluminum version. Should cost about $30 to make.

I wish I could make this, but I'm up to my eyeballs down here in southern md working on my engine swap and suspension work on the 109. If you plan more for the 29th let me know, I may be able to lend a hand.

I am 90% sure I am coming, just depends on if I wuss out at the last minute.

I am bringing my 220v welder with gas, and the plasma cutter. If no one needs either one, let me know so I don't have to drag them out there. Charles, I assume you'd want the 220v to weld your diff cover. If anyone else needs special tools let me know (dial caliper, dial indicator w/mag base, jacks, jack stands, engine hoist, etc).

This sounds like Humpty's only chance - a bunch of expert welders and the equipment in one place... who all happen to be LR enthusiasts!?

How much beer would it cost me to get "help" with Humpty's firewall and planter box?

Damn, didn't see any of these posts since I last posted sorry.

Thanks to everyone that came by especially Tyler and J. who yanked my front axle and welded on the sewer cap.

I made about 5% progress on the diff rebuilds with Loic's help. LOL.

Matt, I'll be working on it next Saturday for sure, so come on down if you want to work on humpty. Bring good beer and it's all good.
