NOVA traffic

Who had the worse commute home today? Took me just over 4 hours to go from Tyson's to Arlington. For those who don't know the area in non-rush hour its a 10-15min drive (7-8 miles).

my god, few things raise my blood pressure more...
Picking wifey up from the metrostation 1 mile away took 35 minutes round trip. If your car is 2wd and you don't have snow tires GTF off the road!

igot you beat 6hrs from tysons to annandale, left the shop at 4:30 walk in at home at 10:38. on a regular rush hr day it is a 30 min drive at most.
I get to my neighborhood and power is out... on my way many abandoned cars, mini suvs, luxury sedans, 2 box trucks one jacknifed tractor trailer.
after 5 hrs I became the tipical asshole on a 4wd... Itraveled wrong way on oposite lanes, went over curbs, ran ligths cut thru private parking lots.
finaly home.
a guy on a brand new subaru sti rear ended my truck, his bumper got hooked on my tow ball upon impact, he pushed me forward and ripped off his bumper cover.
not a single scratch on the rover... i wished him luck and left...boy was he pissed at himself for having taken delivery of it today.

This car was literally frozen in NYC. He ended up breaking his back window trying to chisel the ice off.
Not a very smart guy to say the least.
Turn the mute button on your computer as the music is horrid.

I know there is other footage floating around but this gives you the idea.

I left work at 2:30 PM in New Carrollton, MD and got home in Alexandria, VA at 3:00 PM

Driving to work today, there were cars along I-495 EVERYWHERE. I even saw several cars in front of me hit black ice... two assholes flew by me, ended up making out with the Jersey wall. scary shit to watch.

My commute was zero minutes, normally a half hour.

I grew up north of buffalo, have a D90 with new BFGs on it, have chains, even a winch.

I never go to work when it is snowing because while I can make it through anything, there are tons of idiots out on the road.

cheese and rice.

I was trying to get home yesterday when I sat on Ellicott st NW through 4 light changes on Wisc ave because 6 cars tried to scoot across during the yellow, then the 3 front ones all got stuck... AHHHH.

I ended up pulling a Carlos Z and did a Uturn in the middle of the intersection, went the wrong way up a (blocked by snow drifts) 1 way street, went over a bunch of curbs, etc to get home.

My commute from L'Enfant Plaza to Arlington:

3 hours
1 metro ride
2 buses
1.5 miles on foot
1 wipeout into a puddle (wingtips don't work in the snow)
1 BMW pushed (unsuccessfully, see wingtip reference above)
2 Jackholes parked in crosswalks cussed out
1 old lady helped across the street
finally home and:
2 fingers of single malt

Took my wife to DCA this morning, the GW parkway, 395 and 110 are a sea of Rear wheel drive fail -- abandoned BMWs, camaros, and vettes everywhere.

Hmm.. I recall seeing a white vette last night on the parkway, right before I lost my shit and drove the wrong way up the 123 onramp..

Sorry Tony, my rav4 died and your house was the only one I felt safe leaving it in front of. I didnt see the driveway. I will pick it up this afternoon.

Can you clean it off and shovel it out for me?

So what should I expect tonight?

My wife has an interview in Baltimore tomorrow morning and we're planning on driving up from NC this evening. Will road conditions improve by then?? Are we totally screwed?

I guess we'll bring the rover if things are still bad, but i can just imagine how much she is not going to enjoy 5.5 hours in the rover...
