kevin, totally agree about the salt all over everything... would much prefer to drive the wife's 2wd grand cherokee but just don't want to end up blocking Tony's driveway. Will we make it in her POS rear wheel drive jeep??

highways will be fine, might be slow at points. shouldnt have too many issues on side roads if youre not an idiot. key is to not slam on the gas so your wheels dont spin. if youre coming later in the night, might want to watch out for refreezing on side streets.

You'll be fine, all but the deep residential streets are fine. At least as far as williamsburg they got nothing but rain.

LOL, wouldn't that make it a RAV 2?

I left work @ 3:30ish, it was raining when I walked out the door, which turned to sleet and then to snow just as I rounded the corner onto my street. It didn't take me any longer to get home than usual. Made a fire in the insert and cooked up some burgers for me and the missus. Lots of fun watching the metro buses slither and slide their way up Sherman Ave, which is about a .00001% grade. Almost busted my ass today getting out of the 90 in my free parking spot.

Everybody stay safe.

This is why I don't commute. Lost power for about 9 hours which sucked, but it came back in time to go to work this morning

My commute sucked. Took me twice as long as usual. (4 minutes instead of 2). I live .8 miles from work.
Made it in safely today. BORED as sheet here.

No power, so out at 5:30 foraging for breakfast. Silver Diner in Rockville opened at 7. Off to work via Metro.

I took the Metro also....even though it took me almost two hours to get to Walter Reed from Alexandria. I was a heck of alot better off than the people that were stuck on the beltway. Some people had a13 hour commute home.

I guess we'll bring the rover if things are still bad, but i can just imagine how much she is not going to enjoy 5.5 hours in the rover...
as of right now all highways, main roads in the greater DC area are cleared. I think you'll be fine.

Haa, that's funny. Every time it snow I tell myself I should buy one of those loaders. You could train a kid to drive it and make a killing here in the burbs doing driveways. I think it would pay for itself in one snowfall. But then I'd have to store it somewhere.

No doubt - yesterday some guy had a lowered Honda and was trying to get out of parallel parking spot on the street. Roads were still a mess and he was sliding all over the flipping place. I had the 90 and gave him some room. As he finally gets out to the road sliding around he looks at me like I'm the a$$hole.

By looking at these pictures... it looks as if the green bobcat got stock and the cream/orange tried to pull it out... the green one slid and hit the SUV.

Yeah, saw that - looks like the green skid was stuck which seems odd - a little snow shouldn't mess up a skid steer. I've rented a few Bobcats for work in the back yard and have gotten them stuck in mud that high - just use the bucket and push your way backwards. But maybe he can't grab onto anything as it could be all ice.
