Not all good deals come from here..

So I was looking through the craigslist a couple of weeks ago and this disco 2 comes up for sale for nearly $5k but it's got all sorts of stuff on it... Well I finally bought it the other day for $3100... It's got a nearly new Tempui roof top tent WITH the floored enclosure..never used.. Full length Tepui awning with the full mosquito net enclosure.. New voyager rack, rear dog guard..2 rear RIGID led lights.. Dual battery setup with automatic switchover, land rover swing away rear bike carrier..waterproof seat covers, front brush guard with land rover safari lights, car runs and drives great and has over 230,000 miles on it..a couple of small sections of rust but hey, I ain't complaining.. And the interior is in really good shape..

$3.1k is a steal

What was wrong with it?

Show me where I can get that stuff for $2500... Here's my math..$1000 on the rack.. $1500 on the tent with enclosure, $500 on the awning with mosquito netting, dual battery setup $200 truck itself $2000 all day long, $200 on the original safari lights, $100 on the Hellas.. And it's all here... No need to ship it, it goes straight onto the 130 build... So for me to purchase those parts when I build the 130 would cost me more than I paid for the whole truck....so yeah, I'm happy and obviously other people think it was a good deal also..

What's wrong with it.. It had the 3 amigos on, new shuttle valve and the mod took care if that..and even though it has plenty of tread on the tyres they were flat spotted and had a slight vibe at 80... Threw a set of 18s on it that I had laying around..

Jason will say it's $500... but that's a good estimate.

You can sell the truck without the parts for $3k now that it's fixed.

It never hurts to have a really high mile truck around the shop..when customers ask how many miles these trucks are good for I simply say..take a look at my truck..230,000 miles and runs great..

Yeah, not sure about $3000 but I'd say $2000 as it's quite presentable.. And with the brush bar and a pair of lights on it I'd have to say $2000 easily..but that's not my point.. The stuff on it was worth the asking price in my opinion.. Don't worry about Zack.. Rumour has it that someone pissed in his cornflakes this morning..lol..

I resemble that remark. Briggs bought a Disco 1 for like $20 and a pack of baseball cards off of Craig's List but it hadn't lapped the world 10 times.

everyone knows you can buy 230k discos for a grand, hell, Bill got one for free with less miles! Not trying to pee in your cornflakes, it wasn't a bad deal, but parting out will have you breaking even, with a slight loss in labor

$1000 for a USED roof rack? $1500 on a USED tent? $500 for a USED awning? No one pays $200 for those old ass "Safari" lights.

I got my RoxStar Fab roof rack(3x the rack any of those SD ones could ever hope to be) for $400. The guy threw in the Camping Labs Awning with mosquito netting for $50.00(yes the decimal is in the right place). He would have included the RTT for another $400, but I don't have use for a RTT.

You need to take all your figures and cut them in half. You have about $1500 worth of used aftermarket parts and a truck with 230K miles you paid $1600 for. You should get $3-400 scrap value for the stripped truck, and you MIGHT be able to the remaining $1200-1300 if you part every last bit of it.

Good score, though!
